Several Big things going on in with the situation. (Plz see my earlier TESC threads if you do not know what is going on with this post)

I was contacted today by the president's office via email, concerning TECEP fees for the military students. They had a budget meeting today and the president of Thomas Edison State College (TESC) along with the board decided to change the fees charged to the military taking TECEP exams to that of a non-enrolled student. This is not EXACTLY what I was hoping for but it will do for now. I was told they did not change the TECEP fees to that of an enrolled student because the college waives ALL the yearly fees (yearly enrollment fee, tech fees and so on..)for it's military students.

On another note, today I was also contacted by the GOVERNOR OF NEW JERSEY; Jon S. Corzine regarding this entire situation. He placed the investigation for this situation into the hands of the Executive Director of the Commission on Higher Education; Jane Oates. This entire thing FLOORED ME! The Governor wants to be "held accountable" (his words) for what goes on in his state. Needless to say I was very impressed, AGAIN!

Overall the college has been more than helpful with the speed and direct way they have been attacking these issues. I believe that all will go well with this, and hopefully the customer service will improve too. Trust me, I believe it will, and soon.

Bottom line is that I will keep everyone here up-to-date on the progress.

    Thoughts?

This is amazing. Next, you'll probably be called by the news people. Be sure to mention DI when they interview you on CNN!

All I have to say is: WOW!

Actually Fauss, YOU are the reason I started writing in the first place. You said to write to FOX or something to that nature, so I started writing!

I am glad your following this situation. I don't think many others here are, as I don't get much of a response to my posts on this subject.

That's strange, because quite a few people on this board go to TESC and should be VERY interested in the fact that student services and some other things will be getting much better.

By the way, the staff members have the DEGREEINFO.COM link in their systems NOW as they want to follow REAL the DL community.

I have mentioned our link in every email and phone call I have been involved with on this matter. I know the Communications Director of TESC is reading this board because he mentioned it in his emails. The TESC Presidents Aide has also has looked in on us and has forwarded certain posts to certain departments for review. Hummmmmmmmmm, nice.

It appears the administration there really gives a hoot what's going on out here in DL cyber land. I for one am very glad!

    Fauss, again, thanks for following.;)

Shame I don't live in New Jersey - it would be a pleasure to vote for a politician that wants to be "held accountable". Here in Cook County, IL, the Board President had a stroke over 100 days ago, has no deputy or succession plan (an indictment in itself) and the County Board is watching the entire budget (over $3 billion) go down the tubes while they "wait for a report from his family".

    Thanks Dude. :)

    Jim,

That seems to be the way of the world now. Look at what our esteemed Vice President said yesterday "The worst thing we could do it pull out". I don't know about you, but I know that guy is making BILLIONS on this war with Halliburton. They supply EVERYTHING to us over there. You name it, they provide it. The sad thing is they are not doing too bad of a job. What kills me is to know that he is making big bank off of it.

Talk about the ME generation. The problem is most of these "ME" politicians are older than the ME generation- Sad.

What I will tell you is, there is lots going on at TESC now. Other than having an issue with how many TRANSFER CREDITS they will give me, it is not a bad school.

They are in a partnership with Coastline Community College and they are having issues with giving me at least 60 credits including my military schooling. I want to go there, but right at this moment they are making if hard for me to do so.

As a military student I am considered enrolled when I sent in for an evaluation, so I am a student there "for now I guess".

On the other hand, I have feelers out at a few other schools (Excelsior is one, I hate the name though), but we will see how it goes at TESC first.:D

I feel honored to indirectly be a teeny part of lighting the fire under you (not that you needed a lot of help there).

    You're cool, recruiting.

Not many people get my obscure reference to that forgotten old movie. You win points in my eyes for being one of the few who get it.

Anyway, glad to be a small part. Must be kind of cool having university presidents and state governors bow and scrape around you and seek your favor.

    ;)

Nahh, these folks at TESC are for real. I have not had one question unanswered.

The rank and file at TESC seem glad that these issues were brough up by a potential quasi-enrolled student.

They are addressing more than the military issues. The student services needed quite a bit of improvement. I saw this due to my wife being a student there and my first phone experiences with them.

All-in-all, I am happy with the progress and the speed at which they are taking action.

I believe the movie was circa 1970, hehe! As I recall, Fauss was a woman's dream, aye? (so the song goes)

I seem to recall a very old post of yours regarding that movie. Could you reiterate?

Glad to hear you're making a change. Our soldiers have it tough enough having to put their lives and finances on the line to protect us from who-knows-what. The last thing they need is someone telling them they get a free ride, so just grin and bear it at obvios inequities. Glad to hear they're changing their tune.

    LITTLE FAUSS AND BIG HALSY:

For both of you, the movie was a Robert Redford ("Big Halsy"), Michael J. Pollack ("Little Fauss"--a character actor, one of those guys who's been in a million movies playing odd little fellers, you see him and say: "Yeah, that guy, of course, but what's his name?), Lauren Hutton("Rita Montana" or "Rita Nebraska" or some plains state--a very early role for her) vehicle about motorcycle racing. It's one of those gritty realistic movies from that era along the lines of "Two Lane Blacktop" with Dennis Wilson. I love those kind of movies that you can't tell from real life. They don't make them much any more, everything has to be so big and spectacular and nothing like real life. People have to say things in these modern movies that are so clever and pithy that you'd wish you thought of them--but that you never, ever hear anyone actually say in life. I don't like it, I'm a relic of another era.

Anyway, dad was a cycle dealer at the time and raced a bit himself. I was also a budding racer being groomed for greatness--but it never worked out. I raced until I went off to college, and now dream of doing it again in the over-40-over-the-hill class. My wife thinks I'm nuts. She's right.

    Anyway, thanks for asking!
