Just wanted to say that even though it has been a rocky road with many obstacles and a defense that produced more and more work, I was finally and totally approved with my Ph.D. I'm numb, tired, and in debt. Nevertheless, I am thankful.

Congratulations! It sounds like you're a bit burnt-out right now, but all your hard work is finally paying off - now is the time to enjoy it!

Thank you, Fortunato and Simon. I appreciate it. Lots of trials. I had to work three jobs and do the Ph.D. full time. I got injured, had to take three quarter extensions, harldly slept and had to keep the wife happy. Doctorates are like mistresses, they want a lot of attention. Gotta watch your priorities that you don't lose your family. Right now I don't know what to do with myself... :)

It's very, very important to keep one's wife happy. ;)

The main point is that you have achieved a major milestone in your life and after the feelings of numbness abates you will be in a better position to enjoy your achievement.

    Congrats!

It is so inspiring to hear that someone has worked so hard and so long- and succeeded! I completed a masters in couns psych degree a long time ago- worked full time residential group home 40 hours on weekends, did a clinical internship during the week, and spent 9 hours one day a week in classes- plus commuting.

Just wondering, are you planning to try to get licensed as a psychologist. and if so, has your school Capella had grads do that? The reason I ask is that the only way I could go on for the doctorate is by distance, but if I did it that way, I would want to make sure I could get licensed.

Congratulations! So, where are you hoping to do a postdoc? ;)

    Steve,

I won't be doing a postdoc. My Ph.D. in Family Psychology is not for licensure unless I want to use it for a LMFT license in the future. Also, if I ever decide to become a psychological test giver and need a certificate of Clinical Psychology I'll probably do the Fielding certificate with the postdoc internship. Right now, I'm quite tired. Thanks for asking.

    Re: Congrats!

    Marisa,

You sound like you did similar to what I did.

I'm not going for licensure in psychology.

Capella is CACREP accredited for masters programs but not yet APA approved for doctorates in clinical and counseling psych. I recommend www.fielding.edu for that. Check it out. It is the ohly online school that is APA approved right now.

Thanks...I am pretty bogged down right now with finishing my MBA and starting my PhD, but I'm so much more excited about the PhD work than I ever have been with the MBA work.

Congratulations! You can be very proud of the great effort and diligence it took to successfully conquer all life obstacles and arduous academic requirements that stood in the way.

All the best from a fellow Capella alumni.
