How many upper-level credits does Excelsior require for a BS in General Business? BAin4Weeks says 30 and 123CollegeDegree says 21, so I'd just like to make sure.

You might try seeing what www.excelsior.edu says.

I think they require 30 for the liberal arts degrees, and something less for the business majors. I hope somebody has the info for you--the excelsior site is a huge PITA now that it's all passworded.

The BA in Liberal Arts requires 30 hours of upper-level courses in Liberal Arts. The BS in Liberal Arts requires 21 hours of upper-division courses in Liberal Arts and the other nine hours of upper-division courses may be in Professional Education. The BS in General Business requires 12 hours of upper-division courses in Business, but their School of Business page and their FAQ don't seem to make clear how many other upper-division hours are required or how they may or must be distributed.

Ditto. I'm a little shocked at this. I think I had to have 21 credit hours when I obtained my degree from USNY some years ago.

I kinda recall that that you had to have a minimum of 6 hours upper-level in one of the three Arts & Sciences areas, and 3 hours in each of the other two areas.

I don't know if this is still the case and is not documented or if they have relaxed their requirements.

    I second that.

Really? I don't find that to be an issue at all, to be frank. I've got my user/password set up so I just log in and go.

"...you must earn a minimum of 12 semester hours of advanced-level business credit..." pp. 34, School of Bus. catalog.

Chart III (BS Gen Bus) outlines
60 sh -- arts and sciences (incl written English)
    45 sh -- business component
12 sh -- advanced level business
15 sh -- additional credit (incl Info Lit)

Other than the 12 specific upper level hours specified as "advanced", this chart makes no reference to "level".

All of that said, it seems to me that it would be hard to meet the Excelsior business core and not exceed 12sh uppers.

This is what I read in the catalog. Generally speaking, what the catalog says is more important than what anyone else (even me) thinks. So, get the catalog and study it to make sure that you are following the right plan.

I think that the confusion comes from the School of Liberal Arts and not the Business School.
I recently completed a BS in Psychology from Excelsior. At least 30 hours must be at the upper level.
There is also another requirement that at least 21 hours of the 60 hours required in Arts and Sciences must be upper level.
I completed 18 upper level credits in Psychology that counted toward my major and also toward the 21 hours in A&S. I used an upper level Econ class for the other three.
There does not seem to be this type of requirement for the Business Degree.
Ditto to what Coach Turner said!
