    Hello,

Has anyone received a degree from Frederick Community College using FEMA credits? I have been taking FEMA classes including independent study to which one of my goals is to acquire a degree involving Emergency Mgt. All replies are appreciated.

I have done over 40 FEMA courses and wrote them to ask if I paid for the FEMA courses for FCC credit and applied credits from my previous A. A or BS could they award me a Associate's degree in Emergency Management? They said because the FEMA courses have no grades I would still have to take several courses with them to establish a "grade point average". Why pay 60 dollars a credit for a course that Frederick views as noncredit themselves? I point out that at 40 credits or so at 60 dollars each I would have been paying over 2000 dollars for the degree. They weren't moved . Now they want you to test with them to show you really learned what FEMA says you already passed for college credit.
I find it odd. I would think if you took 30 FEMA courses and passed them and then paid for Frederick Credits and transferred in 30 from another RA school they should award you a degree.
This testing they have you do now indicates that they don't really don't consider these FEMA courses which are not proctored worthy of college credit at their own credit awarding school!

    TESC

Have you looked into TESC yet? They should transcript the credits and will accept them toward either their BS or AS in Human Serivces Con- Emergency Management. A few people here have used them toward free electives and also toward their major. Link:

Thanks for your replies. I will apply to TESC. FCC was to me a little too much where I went thru the independent learning to which FEMA offers. When you visit FEMA website, it used to feature two community colleges now just one. I wonder what happened?

    too good to be true?

Please help me get this right. I reviewed the TESC thread about FEMA courses listed above. I have done 37 that were given credit plus 2 US Fire Administration ACE evaluated courses. If I got credit from Frederick Community College the cost would be 37 times 60 dollars =2220 dollars. IF I did it through the TESC credit bank I pay 350 dollars and get the 37 RA credits (equal to the FCC credits)? IS this correct-seems too good to be true. Are there other fees or something I'm missing?
