Hey everyone. Just wanted to say that a few years ago I decided to finish up my degree and thanks to this forum I was inspired to go the DL route. I decided on Excelsior due to the price and program. But I looked up after a year and found that I had only taken a few exams and never really made a dent in the credits remaining to finish the darn degree.

I found it hard to motivate myself when I didn't have actual deadlines and professors on my back. So I went ahead and went back the B&M way and have a year left after this. This is not to discourage DL learning, rather to say that I now hold that the one who finishes a DL degree, from an accredited school, deserves big respect.

You have to be totally self-motivated and focused. That said, if I was in a HR position and had to choose between hiring a B&M student or a DL student I might lean towards the DL student for the simple fact I'd know firsthand the self-discipline it requires.

    Hi Phillypoet,

Thanks for the kind words and for sharing your experience. I also have strong respect for any student who is pursuing an accredited degree via DL. Unfortunately, DL students don't get enough credit these days. It seems that many people take for granted the extra self-discipline, motivation and focus that you need to do well in distance learning. But its nice to see someone like you recognize their efforts. Thanks and take care.
