This is just another prime example of the myths that have been promulgated by special interest groups during the "age of revisionism" (beginning in the late 1960s to the present) that are distortions of the facts. They are not innocous and have serious implications for other groups of individuals. For instance, not only are boys generally not treated on par with girls in school but as noted in another thread there are very strong indications that many young men are turning away from undergraduate and professional graduate education programs as well. Is there a possible relationship/link between the early life educational experiences of boys that Atlantic Magazine depicts that may explain to some degree why males are turning their backs to higher level education?

Although not related to the subject noted above another significant myth was recently exposed. A well designed research study demonstrated that contrary to what the mass media and special interest groups want to make the public believe, young women are equally involved in physical attacks against males in dating relationships! It appears that the majority of these incidents are not reported to the police by men due to the fact that it is socially inappropriate for a "real man" to show vulnerability and admit "weakness". This finding, which by the way is one of a number of studies that has demonstrated womens' involvement in physical assaults against men, will probably be glossed over by the media and buried.

There is another reason men do not report being assaulted by their wives/girlfriends: because cops, with their "beat heads first and maybe ask questions later" mentality will just arrest the man!

    Gender war ?

Well, I live in Canada and I can tell you I am not a spring chicken and yet I was threatened physically in a public restaurant by a divorced woman for telling her I did not intend to continue the relationship ; I had to tell her a number of times before she calmed down and accepted the fact that they were a lot of patrons looking at her ( she was raising her voice ).

Yes, the cops would have probably come down hard against me but I made sure to be in a public place ( a restaurant ) where she could be seen as the assailant if she dared.

Not a long time ago ( in fact, last Friday ) a father related to me that he was attending a sports meet of ten public schools and that he had a boy and a girl in the meet; the girl won three cups : gold, silver and bronze and the boy got nothing.

One of the factors : in public schools ( elementary ) most if not all of the teachers are female and so the female teachers reward those who emulate the female teacher standards. I have to say that I was educated in a boys only elementary school and could be told I am biased.

Feminism and its attendant mythology has been devastating, and looks to be one of the major social/political catastrophes of the 20th century. One effect has been the feminization of education - with severe disadvantages for boys, who increasingly enter adulthood in a feral state.

Incidentally, about 60% of DL students are women over the age of 25. This is a bit more unbalanced than the general undergraduate ratio in the USA of ~57%/43% women/men.
