South African universities ranking (official)

Is there any official ranking of South African universities. I am particularly interested in University of Pretoria rank.

Good question. I am interested in the same institution, and would be quite interested to gain access to such information.

 

There is an official ranking of world-class science and engineering faculty at South African institutions. This is from the South African National Research Foundation.

I doubt very much that you'll find any official ranking for the arts, theology and other fields.

 

I can't find a theology ranking per se, but it's worth noting that Pretoria grads seem to show up in every other theology department in South Africa. The University of Pretoria also seems to be host to an annual symposium on global Christianity, held in July (I've seen mention made of 2000, 2001, and 2002 Pretoria symposia, suggesting to me that this is a regular thing).

Yes, my general impression has been that Pretoria, Stellenbosch, and UNISA (and, increasingly, Natal) provide the vast majority of home-grown scholars taking up theology faculty positions at institutions (both public and private) throughout that country. Based upon the available evidence, I think that it is safe to say without reservation that the Pretoria theology faculty ranks in the top 5 in South Africa.

 

Interestingly enough, though they are not arranged in the same order, the top ten scoring universities in the link you've provided are identical to the list of top ten universities in the link I provided in my recent "Top 10 South African Universities" post.
