I just came home after finishing my CLEP test on "Information Systems and Computer Applications". I passed with a scaled score of 74 out of 80.

    I didn't study at all.

Interestingly enough, the woman at the college who manages the testing center was shocked when I finished the 100 question test in 27 minutes. She said that without a doubt, in all of her years administering CLEP tests, I finished my test quicker by far than anyone she's ever seen.

I'm going to see if the CLEP satisfies the St. Pete College requirements for their computer literacy class (I doubt it). If not, I'll use it at one of the Big 3 (for instance, as my 3 computer credits at Excelsior).

    Good for you!

Me either and I think I got the same score. That's one where if you're technical it's a breeze but if not I think it might be a little challenging.

I took thirty-five minutes. Did you have the same problem where you could have finished it faster but the questions took a while to load?

    Steve:

No, didn't have any question load time issues. The 27 minutes didn't include the log-in and payment time and running quickly through the demo questions (I've never taken a CLEP before), it was just exactly 27 minutes off the countdown clock.

I dont remeber how long it took for me, but i did that one and World civ 1 in about 1.5 hrs. Funny, i got a 74 too.I was at Winston Salem State University. They looked at me like I had 3 heads. CLEPs require some study, but really are not that tough. It makes me question the quality of student at B&M universitys if they struggle with this type of stuff. I thought world civ1 was on par with my 10th grade world civ class to be truthful.

Back to the scoring. Is it me, or do I see alot of similiar scores. In this forum, instacerts forums, and some "other" places I see alot of the same scores for the same test. Humanities is have seen soooo many 63s and 64s to be conicidence.

Anyway congrads, and keep up the good work. Being reconigized for success like that can really energize you!!!

Way to go! Hopefully it will count for computer literacy!

So...what do you think of SPC? How many credits have you taken through them?

Have you taken the CLEP for college algebra? Math is not my son's forte' and he was so stressed out in the Int. Algebra class at the CC that I made him withdraw. I found a tutor to work with him and the goal is for him to CLEP college algebra and hopefully bypass the stress of taking it in a classroom setting.

I like SPC so far. There are some things that are left to be desired, but that's probably similar just about everywhere.

I'm not impressed with their counselors/advisors overall. I have found two people, one higher up and one transcript evaluator who both have helped me immensely, but the online/cyber advisors and even the one in-person counselor I saw were not helpful enough for my liking.

I am currently taking three classes (9 credits) and these are the first I'm doing at SPC.

No. I have a bit of a brain-block on Algebra. I would like to take the CLEP on College Mathematics as it would satisfy the 3 additional credits I need in Math at SPC to get my AA, but I'm so far removed from it at this point that I will need major study to be successful.

I have paid for InstantCert and have been trying the college math prep, and so far I've been wrong way too many times to come close to passing. If I continue to practice, I'm sure I can get it. However, in the meantime I've decided to take the College Algebra independent study class from LSU. I've already confirmed that it will satisfy the 3 math credits I'm missing.
