The ICDL (International Computer Driving License) program is partnered with Excelsior College and you can earn 7 lower level credits, if you need them, by completing the 7 tests that ICDL provides. The cost for the full program is $249. Link: http://www2.icdlus.com/icdlus-lms-webclient/homepage/about/excelsior.html My impression of the program is that it is a basic general computer skills program that should be pretty darned easy to pass. The subject areas are: - Concepts of IT - File Management - Word Processing - Spreadsheets - Database - Presentation - Internet & Email I've not yet enrolled in the program, but I am considering it (if the ICDL has a testing center near me--I'm waiting for an e-mail back from them on that subject).
Interesting.... Does this also satisfy Excelsior's infamous Information Literacy requirement, the one that I've heard can usually only be satisfied by their one credit course? -=Steve=-
Re: Interesting.... I don't know. I'm not an actual Excelsior student (yet, though I'm leaning that way) but perhaps an e-mail to Excelsior may answer the question. BTW: Even my local B&M college where I'm earning my AA (online) has the same computer literacy one credit dealio.
Re: Interesting.... I've sent Excelsior an e-mail asking this question. I'll let you know what I hear.
Re: Re: Interesting.... Received a reply, and no it does not satisfy the 1-credit Excelsior competency requirement.
Re: Re: Re: Interesting.... Of course not! Only a check for $260.00, made out to "Excelsior College" will satisfy Excelsior's 1-credit Information Literacy requirement. It's definitely just an income stuffer for them. But at least it is an easy course to pass....just expensive! Also, the money that can be saved by completing a degree with Excelsior far outweighs any personal irritation I feel about the cost of the Info Lit course.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Interesting.... Umm...you actually have to pass the INL 102 course. But they will take your money in order for you to take the course. - Shawn
Thanks for the post! It seems to be a very cheap and easy way to earn 7 credits or just a nice easy addition to a resume.
