Has anyone ever heard of college credits that are effectively expired after 10 years? I ran into this at Colorado State University.

I have some credits going back to 1989 to 1991 which they said they couldn't accept without appeal because they broke their 10 year rule. So I did the appeal and a lot of them are still not accepted. These are not technology credits. Most of the credits are in the social and behavioral sciences, humanities, and law enforcement. I've never run into this with any college or university here in Minnesota. It strikes me as a money making issue for the university frankly. Out of over 120 semester credits that I've earned, they've recognized about 45 thus far.

There's a major inconsistency however because they've already accepted some that are over 10 years old while rejecting others. The whole thing strikes me as just more university rankism.

I asked my advisor if those teaching at the university still have their professorship if in fact some of their undergrad credits expired. Sarcastic yes, but I was a bit frustrated by the whole process.

As I stated. If these were technology credits, IT or a field that is making constant strides it would be one thing. To have Psychology of Personality rejected because I took it in 1991 is ridiculous as far as I'm concerned. They wouldn't even accept it for elective credit.

Any opinions or similar experiences appreciated.

I've never heard of credits expiring. I just enrolled at St. Petersburg College and they accepted all 36 credits that I earned in 1979-1981.
