Not sure if this makes a difference but I've known people who obtained degrees from UOP, Capella and other non-traditional institutions obtain federal jobs in homeland security and law enforcement. BUT, these guys had years of hands on experience in either the military or law enforcement. The degree itself will probably enhance their chances, doubt if its a big factor on its own.

Here is the qualifications excerpt from www.cia.gov - looking at Telecommunications Information Systems Officers:

Minimum qualifications include the following: Basic working knowledge of computer systems, networks, hardware, software and applications in common use today or prior military experience in related field or work. Higher-level positions require 4-6 years of progressive experience and knowledge in the telecommunication and automated information systems as well as supervisory experience. Associate degree in Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Systems network Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology or similar degree from a technical trade school. A GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is also required.

Doesn't state anywhere that it can't be a DL degree... if you're qualified with a degree, you're qualified with a degree.

Unlikely - the CIA takes a recruiting tack that's not too different from Wall Street - they target the best and the brightest, e.g. Ivy League, Stanford, etc., or those who have shown some high level of excellence in military service (a former infantry company commander of mine won a prestigious Army-wide leadership award for company grade officers, and soon thereafter resigned from the Army and went to work for the Agency).

Note that APU has *faculty* who worked for the CIA. A student who made it into the CIA would be prohibited from announcing this fact to the world.

My Brother-in-law is a colonel in the Air Force. He was base commander of the Military Police. He earned a MA in Public Administration(or something) and he attended the University of Pheonix. He also trained with the FBI and so I would think that the CIA would possibly accept UofP degrees.

Note: this is totally from memory. This was years ago.

Without question it would be highly competitive to get in, but I dare say it wouldn't matter if you got your degree via B&M or DL (ie. FHSU, UoP, Champlain, etc. ) - but I'm in .ca - why doesn't someone grab the bull by the horn and call CIA recruiting ?
