for the Electrical Engineering Technology AS Degree. I had to call a couple of times to get someone knowledgable on the phone. Easy payment plan, they weren't much good to me about transferring my existing Electrician diploma before I actually enrolled.

The student services guy on the phone said they changed their name because they received a grant or were granted the right to call themselves a college. Said they moved their administrative offices to Arizona and that is also where the president resides.

    jfls42,

You do not get awarded college credit for there career diploma's because you do not take a proctored exam at the end of your course. you get CEU's not Semester Hour Cerdits

They my give you a lesson credit, meaning you won't have to redo lessons you already did in the Electricains program, but to be awarded the college credit you'll have to take a proctored exam for the duplicate lessons.

My wife has been down this road already with Penn Foster / Education Direct . She found it was better just to go ahead repeat the lessons

    thanks

Thank you for this information. What does 59.75 CEU equal out to in credits? Should I expect any reduction in tuition costs because the Electrician diploma had some of the very same lessons?

I don't know the standard but I think Its

3 SH courses = Approx 120 contact hours.
    1 CEU = 10 contact hours

so if you do the math

    59.75 * 10 = 597.5 hrs

    120/3 =40, 1sh = 40 hrs

    597.5/40 = 14.9375

Not yet she took the autocad course, and most of her duplicate lessons are in semester 3 & 4... She's just finishing semester 1 now and she has been repeating what ever duplicate lessons they have sent her.

    (Her works paying her tuition)

    Hello,
Just curious, what is your wife's major? You say she just completed Autocad and in her first semester. That's curious since I do not have Autocad untill I completed Basic Drafting, which I completed in the second semester and they have me into Autocad in the fourth semester. I'm two lessons away from my Proctored exam for the third semester.
    AS in Electrical Engineering.

she will get lesson cerdit for lesson that she already took in her career diploma. I think most of them lesson are in her 3rd & 4th semester. She won't get college credit because the career diploma's don't have proctored exams

Yes, I could have misread your post. What you said was Penn Foster will not allow credit for Vocational CEUs toward a degree program. You are correct.
I completed their AST in Electronics Technology in 2002. I had my transcript evaluated for the AS in Electrical Engineering Technology program and was awarded 47 transfer credits because the ET was a degree program and I took Proctored exams for each semester. If one should take the lesson credit for Vocational CEUs, there would be a proctored exam for the lesson or lessons credit and there is a 20 dollar fee for each Proctored exam.
As you said, better to just do the lessons over and take the final examination for the semester for the same 20 dollar Proctor fee.
I'm two lessons away from my third semester final. I have Autocad in the fourth semester plus any elective they throw at me. Almost at the tunnel's end. LOL.
It's been a great experience, and I've had nothing but a good relationship with Penn Foster. I have taken many courses throughout the years at the school, by all it's given names.

    Jeff,
No I do not have that information, you will have to wait for Penn Foster to send you the packet during your first semester.
It would be useless to do anything untill then anyway.
