The only thing I have found is an AAS in Civil engineering technology from pennfoster which focuses heavily on Surveying. But being only DETC accredited I am pretty sure you can't sit for the surveyors exam with it. I can't even find local colleges with surveying programs.

Does anyone know of any D/L surveying programs?

Metropolitan State College of Denver has a DL program that leads to an ABET-accredited BS degree in Surveying and Mapping. But there are several caveats:

    - All of the surveying and mapping courses are available thru DL from MCSD. But general education and elective courses are not. You are expected to take those elsewhere, and to transfer the credits to MSCD.

    - Proctored labs are required. You are expected to make arrangements with a local PLS to serve as a lab proctor.

    - Proctored exams are required. You are expected to make arrangements with a local library, school, or testing center to serve as an exam proctor.

    - Surveying laws and regulations vary from state to state. The MCSD program is designed for Colorado residents. If you are not in Colorado, then you should check with your state board to see if the MCSD BS degree is acceptable for licensure, or if any additional state-specific training is required.

Penn Foster Civil Eng. Tech. is NOT heavily on Surveying.

Out of 69 credits , solely 17 credits are devoted to Surveying.

Penn Foster is not ABET but requires Proctor examinations at the end of each semester
    and a Proctored lab .

I was on a Colorado State University campus yesterday and there were around 30 or so students learning and/or practicing surveying techniques in a grassy area between buildings.

It looked like distance learning to me - only the distance was a few feet to several hundred feet. ;)
