I have looked at the University of North Dakota's website and am interested in the format they use for their engineering degree course materials. Its a video lecture, through Real player, with a corner of the screen being the lecturer, the main part being powerpoint slides, and the lecturer can write in the slides. I am currently attending a traditional 4 year college but would like to supplement it by getting my hands on these course materials. Do you think it is possible to get access to download the lectures without having to pay the tuition? I don't want the degree from them...I just want the resource! I dispatched this e-mail to the Electrical Engineering advisor...

    Mr. Miles,

I have a slightly odd question for you. I am currently pursuing a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Colorado. I tend to really enjoy distance learning style of course presentation. I took a calculus course online and really enjoyed it. I really like to be able to review the lectures. However the department of ECE at my college doesn't offer any of their courses online. I am wondering if there is any possible way I could purchase the course materials for some of the courses offered at UND in Electrical Engineering. Mainly, I would just like to be able to view the lectures, and HW assignments and such. I would use this as a suplement to my regular classes. If I could transfer strictly to UND I would, but unfortunately other guidelines restrict me to finishing my degree here (I am in Air Force ROTC for one thing, and am in a lease contract on a house here for at least another year).

Is there any possibility that an arrangement could be made for me to pay to download the lectures for certain classes? I realize that a formal method for this may not exist, but maybe something could be worked out between me and you or with the department. Some of the classes I am interested in would be Signals and Systems, EM Fields, Circuits, Electronics.

I look forward to your reply.

    What do you guys think?

I think they won´t permit it since it would be the equivalent of auditing a course. But, hey, you may be lucky.
