    Hello all,

I am starting to gear up for graduate school and will need to take either the GRE or MAT prior to entering. I am not very strong in mathematical skills but a pretty good analytical thinker and good at reading comprehension. Which of these two tests do you think would be easier for me?

    Which was easier for you?

It seems like your majors are in criminal justice.
Shouldn't you be taking LSAT and go to law school?
    Just curious...

    Three words: Miller Analogies Test

Miller, Miller, Miller, a thousand times Miller! I had the same choice, and not only is the Miller a lot cheaper, but it's also just a single one hour section. There's nothing quantitative, it's all analogies. In fact, I found that it was fun to take because some of the analogies were so clever. I was done in thirty-five minutes and scored in the 99th percentile. I totally friggin' loved the Miller!

P.S. Did I mention you should choose the Miller?

The MAT is definitely easier, but if you are thinking you might eventually go on to a PhD program, you should take the GRE.

Many schools that take the MAT for Master's programs will make you take the GRE if you plan to switch into a PhD.

Also, if you decide you want to transfer to another school during your master's, that new school might require the GRE.

Might as well save yourself from having to take an additional test.

    Thanks for the replies.

1.) Not going to law school....getting an MSCJ and hopefully will teach college.

2.) Thanks, Miller it is then.

3.) I have a saying...."Phd ain't for me". But if I ever decide to go that route, I'll take it then.

As of now Troy seems to be my main pick and once in the MSCJ program, I do not plan on switching schools.......It should only be about 18 months.
