Has THIS ever happened to you?

Because I use a Mac, I've never been able to download an Excelsior exam to my computer. (Safari, Explorer, doesn't matter; all pdf's from excelsior download as blanks.)

So, I call to get requested material. Nothing. I call again - the academic advisor says nothing was noted as being sent. "I'll send it." Nothing arrives, despite checking my address; it was OK. I call a third time. Same outcome - nothing!

I do the same three-time attempts at having the auto-answer service get me a couple of sample exams. Same outcome - absolutely nothing!
(You'd think they might at least be interested in turning a buck - but NO WAY!)

Now, I'm quite tired of going to FedExKinkos just to have an EC sample exam. Only ten to fifteen bucks each time. But the last time I went, their printers were out of service.

Suggestions? I'm fresh out of patience. I'm paying for service and not getting any, not even for the basics like information. Perhaps someone has a person to bring my saga's attention to? (This has been a problem of the past five months, not before then.)

Firefox should operate the same way on Windows and Mac (The Mac Explorer is completely different from the Windows one). Have you tried it?

I didn't choose Excelsior, rather another school. I get their e-vitations in my mail all the time. I glance at it and delete. I must say tho I admire the work they do letting students bank credits toward an RA degree.

I have a Mac - for some strange reason, I can download some of their publications. I'm not sure exactly where it is that it changes (from getting totally blank pages to the corrrect PDF's), but it is somewhere down the list.

I'm glad you posted this. That must be extremely annoying, (not to mention the expense).

Just as a side, IE is useless to Macs, now, "In June 2003, the Microsoft Macintosh Business Unit announced that Internet Explorer for Mac would undergo no further development, and support would cease in 2005." Which is fine w/me - I hate IE, and am extremely happy with Foxfire, with all the great bells & whistles. For me, the comparison of IE to Foxfire is similar to using a crayon to write a novel rather than a computer! :D :D :D

Is it possible for them to fax it to you ? Or how about going to public library and using their internet to connect and download. It's a pain I know, but shame you have to do all this to get your service you paid for. I go to EC also. I have had tech problems off and on for 2 years with them.

    Hello,

I tried taking the Lit CLEP...failed it (after a week of study and getting 3 mock scores that were passing...test anxiety). I'm working with "Beholdweb" on the Computer Applications CLEP. If I fail it by June 26...I'll take a summer course at Portland Sate. But EC will still let me walk in the July ceremony. When I pass the CLEP (if that happens first) or the Summer course (after failing the CLEP), then EC will confer my degree.

Am I happy? No. But my choices otherwise suck too.

Sorry if you've already taken care of this, but. . .

If it's really a PDF issue and you're running OS X, download Adobe Reader 7.x for the Mac. Preview doesn't render a lot of the newer features correctly, regardless of browser.

If you're running MacOS9, well, you're hosed. Sorry, but you'd have to get some sort of PC Emulator (e.g. Virtual PC) and run Windows with Adobe 7 to get around that.

    I'll just jump in here:

As someone who has to produce PDF's as part of the Web sites I am responsible for, we do get some complaints from time to time from people who can't view our PDF documents. It seems to be hit-and-miss. They can view one document but when clicking on another, they get a blank screen or the PDF just doesn't load.

I did a LOT of research on this problem, and there has not been a real answer from Adobe on how to resolve it because there are browsers involved.

I have, however, found one solution that seems to work every time, and that is by taking the browser OUT of the equation.

When one of my credit union members calls and can't view their electronic statement or some such document, our help desk tells them to save the document to disk instead of just clicking the link, then open the document in Adobe Reader.

In IE, right-click the link and choose "Save target as...". In Mozilla browsers, right click and choose "Save Link As...".

    Works every time.

I use a Mac and firefox works great all he time.

And yes it calls Adobe and not preview, it helps with PDFs but it is a lot slower
