Well, I received confirmation earlier tonight from Bellevue that I met all the requirements from their graduation audit, and I'll be graduating in the June ceremony with a B.S.in Business Information Systems.

My next steps are PMP certification and MBA enrollment, so I’m about to start the whole cycle again…….I’ve decided that deep down, I’m a masochist.

Thanks for the help and encouragement, guys.

    CONGRATS!!!

Now, how about a long, lazy summer break? I mean, before you start the masochist routine, again? (Can really relate to that feeling, having done a half-dozen "all nighters" for my stats class this semester....this is no way to LIVE!)

I think a celebration is in order!

    Hip Hip HOORAH!!!

    Re: Re: Finally Finished!

And, to everyone, my sincere thanks.

Dave, in response to your question, Bellevue's on-line degree programs (at the undergraduate level - I can't speak for the master’s programs) fall directly in line with their in-residence offerings (same papers, efforts, assignments, and program requirements), and offer the utility of having a degree from a “brick and mortar” college that doesn’t differentiate the program on the diploma (i.e. it’s not a “web” BIS degree, it’s simply a Bellevue University B.S. BIS degree).

The accelerated on-line programs/courses are intended for working adults willing to put in the extra effort to finish the courses in a “cohort”, focused order. You finish the specific degree programs with the same folks you start them with, and if you meet the prerequisites (Associates Degree, and all other general ed requirements met), the degree can be completed in a specific program in 15 months or so.

In addition to the core class requirements for the accelerated programs, Bellevue also requires a three course Signature Series that essentially focuses on liberal arts, with a western civilization and democracy/citizenship focus. Below is a link to the degrees and accelerated programs Bellevue offers.

It was a great personal growth experience, and the school compares to any I’ve ever attended. Once again, thanks, and for anyone considering the BU programs, don’t hesitate to PM me.

Right on, Dave! I hope you are elated :D I agree with everything that you said about the Bellevue experience.

Grad school coming up. I see you're doing the MBA. I'll be starting an MAS in CIS at University of Denver this June. Looking forward to pacing with you again.

Congratulations to you! I finished my BS in BIS degree from Bellevue University last year (grad in June). I really liked the school and got introduced to it from this bulletin board. The program is very do-able with a full time job. I even flew to Nebraska for my graduation and saw the school! Took the opportunity to see Omaha and visit with Bellevue the town. I was quite amazed at the volume of people who graduated! The administrative staff at the school is very nice and willing to help you. When I was considering enrolling with them, they were never pushy or acted like sales people who were just in for a commission like some schools.

I have nothing but good things to say about Bellevue and I'm not that easy a person to please. It's a good program for a fair price.

Ron: Thanks for the dual congratulations:D

Speedoflight: Back at ya! I really appreciate it. Bellevue doesn't get a lot of "play" on this board for some reason, but it seems that the alumni surface for air every so often. Sean Moran is another BIS grad, and shared your opinion of the program (I think there are a couple of Bellevue grad students here as well). I didn't make it for the graduation, but I did visit the campus and meet some of the profs during a couple of trips to Offutt AFB. Just curious - what was your opinion of the signature series?

Thanks again, folks. Didn't expect this thread to be resurrected, but I appreciate it.

Congrats!!!! Tell me, what are the typical writing assignments like? Short essays, long essays, required writing style?

    Hiya, Pug;

For the program itself (BIS), the writing for the technically oriented classes could sometimes be extensive, but it was more focused on the homework questions (i.e. no assigned format as long as you answered the questions), as well as required discussion board postings and responses.

For the more business oriented classes, the required style was APA with usually short 5 - 7 page papers (in addition to homework questions) as well as required postings and responses.

The overall program required a final Capstone thesis, 25 - 30 pages (with all the APA add-ons in addition).

As for the signature series course of classes I mentioned (3 course block that every Bellevue grad has to take), it required a lot of reading and discussion postings/responses concerning the readings per week (which comprised the homework), extensive documentation of a civic project (volunteer effort), and a final capstone thesis (15 pages or so, MLA or APA unless the prof dictates a specific format).

    Hope this helps!
