    Hi,

I’m planning to pursue an A.S. degree (liberal arts) through Excelsior college. I already have 33 credits from various schools. Therefore, I need 27 credits from Excelsior in order to graduate. If someone could advise me on what CLEP and Dantes exams I need to take in order to meet the school’s graduation requirements, I would greatly appreciate it. My goal is to take as many 6cr. CLEP/Dantes exams as possible.

It appears that I’ve already fulfilled the Humanities, Math/Science and Info literacy requirements from my previous coursework.

    Credits received thus far:
    Bucks Cty. Comm. College:
    Various music credits – 9cr.

    U of P:
Skills for lifelong Learning – 3cr.
    History to 1870 – 3cr.

    Montgomery Cty. Comm. College:
Intro to Cultural Anthro – 3cr.

    National Univ.:
    Intro to Communications – 3cr.
    Info Literacy & Report Writing – 3cr.
    Intro to Statistics/Prob – 3cr.
Business Knowledge Mgmt – 3cr. UL
    Survey of Bioscience – 3cr.

    Total = 33cr.

    Thanks,
    Tom

Only an Excelsior advisor can tell you for sure, but going by what you posted and the catalog you need the following for an Associate in Science:

    Total Credits 60

    30 Arts & Sciences Minimum
    including
    3 Written English Requirement
    3 Arts & Sciences Electives
24 mix of Humanities, Social Sciences/History and Natural Sciences/Math

    And

30 Arts & Sciences Electives or Applied Professional Credits

My guess is that your mix is the following:

    Various Music 9 – Humanities
Skills for Life Long Learning – 3 Professional
    History – 3 Social Sciences/History
    Cultural Anthro – 3 Social Sciences/History
Intro to Comm – 3 Humanities
    Info Literacy – 3 Humanities
    Intro to Statistics – 3 Natural Sciences/Math
Business Knowledge Mgt – 3 Professional
    Survey of Bioscience – 3 Natural Sciences/Math

    Totals

    15 Humanities
    6 Professional
    6 Social Sciences/History
    6 Natural Sciences/Math

    Total 33

Now assuming that’s all correct you need the following:

    27 Total Credits

    0 Humanities
Either 3 Social Sciences/History OR 3 Natural Sciences/Math to complete General Education Requirements
3 Written English Requirement (an Excelsior Exam such as College Writing or a course)
21 Applied Professional or Additional Arts & Sciences

This breakdown opens you up to many possibilities with CLEP. The following should be pretty safe.

    CLEP:
    Psychology
    Sociology
    Management
    Marketing
    Natural Science
    College Math
    Human Growth & Development
    Educational Psychology

And a ton of other tests. I suggest you download the Excelsior Student Guide to Credit by Examination. You should be pretty safe with nearly any test that doesn’t appear to overlap in content with courses you’ve already taken.

I see your sig lists you as a psychology student. If you're still interested in that subject starting with the various CLEP psychology tests might be one plan.

    Good Luck.

    In the area

    Hey!

I am in the same area as you. I am in Willow Grove. Are you in the military?

    Re: In the area

    Hi,

Wow, small world. I just moved from Abington to North Wales. No, I am not in the military. I work right next to the Willow Grove air station though. Close enough to see Air Force One take off and land.

Are you in the armed forces??
