I just wanted to share what I learned recently in my search for an Exercise Science related PhD program in South Africa. UCT came highly recommended and I checked it out carefully. Unfortunatley they would have required me, as an non UCT honours graduate, to take about 6 months worth of on-campus lectures (their core honours curriculum). That would be fun, but not too compatible with my continued employment or marriage. I think it lends credibility to their program, but it just isn't going to work for me. I am still looking at UNIZUL as the most probable option, given the lack of follow-up responses from most of the other SA schools I communicated with that have appropriate programs. I must point out that Rhodes University was very responsive and gave me great advice but did not have an appropriate program for me. Stay tuned. Matt
well, did you told them that a US degree is the same as a South African honours degree. as far as I know, South Africa and the UK have two types of BS dgrees. a three years degree is an non-honours dgree. a four year degree, in the other hand, is an honours degree.
They have my CV and know I have not only a 4 year BS but a MS degree on top of that. But UCT expects those that did not graduate from UCT's program to complete their lectures. That's fair enough, it is their program. Just doesn't fit my plans.
