Hello everybody! I'm Hong Kong people. I'm quite interested in Excelsior's CIS degree program. Besides prior credits evaluation and credits by exam, how do I earn more credits in order to get a degree? I know that Excelsior doesn't provide courses themselves, will they just advice me to study some courses which from RA accredited universities? If so, I find two problems: Will those course available for international students? How can I take examination in semester end? I would like to here your advices, especially those graduates outside America. Thanks a lot!
Excelsior has built a database of college-credit courses from regionally- and ministerially-accredited institutions. You can browse and search it online through Peterson's at http://pluto1.petersons.com:8070/lllweb/plsql/linst$.startup ------------------ Kristin Evenson Hirst DistanceLearn.About.com
You can enroll in independent study courses at most universities without enrolling -- I don't think there'd be a problem with being an international student. As for exams -- you'd probably have to have to find a testing center or proctor acceptable to the school. ------------------ Kristin Evenson Hirst DistanceLearn.About.com
Dear Kristin, Some universities don't allow enrollment of international students, or at least non-North American students. Right now, I can think of Athabasca University and Eastern Oregon University. Of course, there are some exceptions to this rule, but I am talking based on what it is said on their catalogs. Sincerely yours, Karlos Alberto Lacaye [email protected] P.S.: If I remember correctly, Athabasca University considers North American students those from Canada, USA, and Mexico.
Dear Kristin, Thank you for your advice, I've found a honorable proctor that every university should accept. I've requested material from Excelsior, TESC and COSC a month before. So far, only Excelsior give me feedback and Excelsior's staff are very responsible in answering my questions. Excelsior must be the right choice!
