As per a news letter from RKU they claim to have achived accreditation from EUROPEAN COUNCIL FOR BUSINESS EDUCATION.

    What this means?
Are their degrees then recognised in european countries?

RKU is basically a fraud. They've changed accreditors several times, all are unrecognized except for a business accreditor... and RKU is only a "member" not an accredited school there.

Their beautiful "campus" is a building that rents offices.

Many of their faculty hold bogus degrees.

The proprietor of the school operates out of Italy, though the school itself claims to be in, I think, Zurich.

I would run away as quickly as possible.

Let us know what you're looking for and we can suggest some legitimate schools that will serve your needs.

    Regards,

One of the many amusing things about this dreadful place is that when asked if the university was named for the late senator, the proprietor replied no, it was named for a New York banker. When a search of the banking community failed to find anyone of this name, the proprietor replied that this particular Robert Kennedy did not wish to be identified.

The "castle" that they depicted in their literature, implying it was their campus, turned out to be a publicly-owned facility that rents rooms, by the hour or the day, to groups.

All RKU needed to do was rent the facility for 5 minutes, take a picture, then rent a small cubby to house a phone, fax, copier, etc.

And I remember the banker who was alluded to, his name was Robert Frances Kennedy. Of course, he was no relation to THE RFK. [IMG]

  5. The "European Council for Business Education" website at http://www.ecbe.net/ looks snazzy, but there's very little info there.

The Members page says only: "ECBE invites member institutes link with us. Please email your logo and URL to [email protected]." What -- they don't know who and where their members are?

The Contact page does name an Executive Director: Bryan Holden, at En Brison CH-1832 Chamby, Switzerland.

I can't find any list of accredited institutions, but the Benefits page has a couple testimonials, one from Huron University USA in London and one from Mendel University, Brno.

All I know is that I'm thankful they no longer claim candidacy status from ACBSP. I teach at an ACBSP accredited school and always viewed RKU's claim as a black mark against the legitimacy of ACBSP.

    Thanks - Andy

Amazing how fast that disappeared. They are listed as unaccredited members of the association.

    Andy & North,
Can you believe that the ACBSP list have the MIGHTY CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK as unaccredited? If CUNY is unaccredited, then no school in the USA is accredited. Cuny is owned by New York City Govt. and is FULLY RA by "middle state Assoc…”. infact My School (Baruch College of CUNY) was ranked # 4 in the nation, In business programs for a long time and it’s only slightly edged by NYU in the whole state of New York. And Baruch’s program is ACBSP accredited. The site also listed Hostos Community College as unaccredited; Hostos is also one of the colleges of CUNY.

Timmy Ade hoping and praying that ACBSP list does not become another Oregon list.

It would seem that the "accredited and unaccredited" categories only refer to
    ACBSP accreditation.

  11. This just means that CUNY is a member of ACBSP and that its business program is not accredited (yet?) by ACBSP. It says nothing about accreditation of the school or of any of its programs or departments.

    Kristin,
CUNY as you know is a federation of independent colleges. Hence CUNY as an entity does not have a business program. However many of its colleges does. And Baruch College handles CUNY’s business doctoral programs. Anyway it is good to know that accreditation in this case only refers to that of ACBSP.

Timmy Ade now relieved and breathing better.

Timmy - calm down a bit. A quick check of the ACBSP and AACSB web sites is quite revealing. The entire CUNY organization isn't accredited by either, but is a "member" of ACBSP. CUNY (Baruch College) is AACSB accredited. Hence, they probably aren't interested in ACBSP accreditation, but they may wish to attend conferences and receive reports. Two parts of CUNY - Bronx Communinty and Queensborough Community colleges - are ACBSP accredited.

    Thanks - Andy
