I found the American Public University that offers interesting M.A. Degrees in National Security and Strategic Intelligence, but I was actually looking for any accredited university/college that offers a Doctorate in either of those subject areas (especially National Security)...either totally online or with minimal residency requirements. Does anyone know of such a degree with any university? I keep pulling up blank on the degree search websites for a doctorate in these areas. The Univ. of Maryland offers a Doctorate in Govt. & Politics, with focus in National Security, but it is an on-campus degree. I also saw where Condoleeza Rice and another person were awarded an honarary Doctorate in National Security from some university, but it does not appear they offer that degree to the public.

    Can anyone help?

You might send a private message to Tireman44 and ask what the status of American Military University's proposed doctoral programs is and whether those will include national security doctorates.

The PhD in Business Administration at Northcentral University www.ncu.edu offers a concentration in Homeland Security, if that is of interest.

"National security" itself seems to narrow a specialty for a doctoral program. It seems to me that "national security" would be one specialty offered within the disciplines of Government, Political Science, or Public Administration (the University of Washington's program is conducted in its school of urban planning).

All of the current or retired military people I know doing national security policy work, to include homeland security, have graduate degrees in one of those three disciplines. Among them is the director of emergency management for a major metropolitan government.
