I'm still trying to find a cheap school through which to get my AA. I'm not into frills particularly, but I do need a degree that will be acknowledged by other universities, if I decide to finish off a BS at a later time.

Rio Salada is listed in the most recent Bears Guide, and it's said to be accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. I think I was told this was a good accrediting agency that other schools will accept. Is this true?

If not, does anyone know of any schools with tuition of under $200 a credit hour that are regionally accredited and offer AA degrees online?

    Thanks!

The North Central Association is one of the six regional accrediting agencies (the others are Middle States Association, New England Association, Northwest Association, Southern Association, and Western Association), so their accreditation is as good as gold.

Hopefully, it is not considered heresy to post a link to a list that one has created at another board (eh, moderators?), but here is a list of distance learning associate's degrees in general studies, individualized studies, interdisciplinary studies, liberal arts, and liberal studies: http://forums.degreeboard.com/showthread.php?t=10223 . I leave it to you to determine which of the following meet your requirements.

Coastline Community College is an Regionally Accredited B&M school with a great DL program. They are also VERY military friendly.

They are currently at $156 per credit hour for Non-residents of California.

    Good luck! :)

If time wasn't such a factor for me, I would have enrolled in Tulsa Community College . They are RA, offer 30 different Associates degrees and certificates online, and cost about $172 per credit hour for non-Oklahoma residents ($47 per credit hour for Oklahoma residents).

Wow, that list has a LOT of programs on it!! Rio Salada is one that's listed though, which is cool. I looked them up and somewhere they said their tuition was, I think, $75 a credit hour. Is this true does anyone know?

Rio Salada's tuition page is here: www.rio.maricopa.edu/services/student/enrollment/registration/tuition.shtml . The tuition structure seems quite byzantine, but if I'm getting it right, it sounds like as if the in-county tuition rate (and Arizona students from counties that have community college districts can pay in-county tuition) is $60/hour, while the out-of-county rate (paid by students from Arizona students from counties without community college districts) is $85/hour for up to 6 credits and $258/hour for 7 or more credits, and students residing outside of Arizona (the distance learning students?) pay $147/hour. Out-of-state students currently residing in Arizona pay out-of-county tuition rates. Apparently, it takes one year to set up in-state residence but only 50 days to set up in-county residency.
