I see many posts here about Hamilton, and I am just wondering, you guys are no talking about Hamilton College in upstate NY, right?

That is a highly respected college (Liberal Arts) and almost impossible to get in. Am I missing something? I don't know much about degree mills so I am asking.

The answer is that they are probably talking about some degree mill called either Hamilton University or Hamilton State University. Quite often, you have situations where a degree mill that uses a name which is very close to that of a legitimate school in hopes of deceiving prospective customers. Here is what Dr. John Bear and his daughter Mariah Bear, MA, had to say in _Bears' Guide to Earning Degrees by Distance Learning_, 15th edition (2003): "Hamilton State University:Arizona. Sold degrees for $50 or less. The fake diploma says they are in Clinton, New York, home of the old and respectable Hamilton College. See also Regency Enterprises and R/G Enterprises. Hamilton University: In mid-1998, we responded to an advertisement from the Academic Resource and Referral Center, offering to find us the perfect school. We submitted a short, fictitious name and were informed by return mail (the letterhead said Kentucky, but the postmark was Rock Springs, Wyoming) that the perfect school was Hamilton University, and that we had already qualified for a degree from this fine institution. The official website for the State of Wyoming points out that Wyoming cannot regulate religious schools, which is what Hamilton claims to be, even though it happily awards degrees of any kind. Comes complete with its very own fake accrediting agency, the American Council for Private Colleges and Universities (ACPCU). There is a comparable pairing of a phony school-finding service (Higher Education Research Institute) and dreadful school (American State University), which is probably the same people, but may simply be one stealing from the other" (page 270). Sorry for the bad news.
