I've done some research and found that EBS doesn't have AMBA accreditation. Is AMBA really worth having? Does any one know why EBS is not AMBA accredited. Alot of schools seem to have the AMBA seal, but I'm sure that being AMBA accredited is not the be all and end all to what makes a MBA programme good.

Also, if I do a MBA that's not accredited by AMBA, would that impact negatively my ability to land a job- has anyone ever experienced this?

    Thanks.

I've heard of AACSB, ACBMP, and IACBE accreditation for business schools, but never AMBA.

Likewise. It would be helpful if you could provide a link, but either way my understanding is that EQUIS and AACSB are the two that count.

AMBA is sorta like the UK version of AACSB.

EBS is not accredited by them, or any of the other marketing schemes (AACSB, EQUIS, etc) because they choose not to be. They feel that their Royal Charter, reputation of the program, curriculum, and qualifications of the faculty is enough. Search for past posts by (now retired) Professor Kennedy for a better explanation. Frankly, I agree with them and commend them for not playing the name or rankings game.

Will that hurt your ability to land a job? I doubt it. It hasn't hurt me or any of my on-campus classmates and I have never hear of anyone from the watercooler complain of it. The ones who complain the most are usually the prospective and current students.

I think that few people in the US corporate world know about or care very much about private sector accreditation for profit. Most of these organizations charge substantial amounts to be accredited.

Unfortunately, few people in the US corporate world understand anything at all about educational accreditation; this in part explains how degree mills flourish in this country.

Private sector accreditation does not influence my hiring decisions.
