    Hello,

I had a question as to what accredited schools require no residency in either on site or through credits acheived via there school. I have done more or less all my work needed towards a degree but at the time I had to leave my school (I am short a german language course to graduate). I am looking for a BA with a mahor or concentration in History.

    I know of these schools:
    Charter Oak
Excelsior (school of ever changing names)
    Thomas Edison

Beyond this I was wondering if anyone knew of any distance schools which were accredited and had a masters program in History.

    Thanks,

    Rob.

Our book, Bears' Guide, lists more than 300 such programs with recognized accreditation (including the three you mention, of course). And the "update" section on the publisher's website (www.degree.net) lists a bunch more.

The subject index to the book lists a dozen non-resident Master's in history, including Cal State Dominguez Hills and the U of Melbourne.

It seems that he is looking for schools that have no physical residency requirement as well as no residency requirement regarding the number of credits taken directly from the school. I'm sure that there aren't 300+ such legitimate schools. [IMG] The three that he listed are all that I'm aware of; are there any others? Most schools seem to have strict residency requirements regarding the number of credits that must be earned from them before they will grant a degree.

Thomas Edison State College does offer a BA with a history major that has no foreign language requirement. If you already have 33 semester hours in History and 120 semester hours total then you probably either already qualify for the degree (just pay your enrollment fee and pick up the degree in a couple of months), or you could probably just finish it with a couple of CLEP, DANTES, or TECEP exams. The general BA requirements are here, and the History major requirements are here (you need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the major requirements).

    Good Luck!

You are correct in what I am looking for in a BA level. Are there any others?
