I have been more of a lurker than a poster, but I wanted to thank all the contributors here as your information and insight have been a tremendous help. I finally graduated and will be receiving my B.S. in Business Administration from AIU. I started this back in 2004 (actually started the college degree quest back in 1995 after high school, but whose counting ) and after a some delays I finally finished with all of my coursework and all the required CLEP exams. The experience was amazing although I won't be doing my MBA with AIU, because I would like to get a different experience from another school (I might do the dual degree program though). The whole degree plan consisted of IT certifications which were used as some transfer credits, some college coursework I completed which were also transferred and of course the CLEP exams all of which combined to satisfy my general education requirements. I took 4 CLEP exams in 2 days (Information Systems, Natural Sciences, Western Civilization II, and Analyzing and Interpreting Literature), didn't think I was going to pass any of them, but I did and now I can't believe it, I graduated. Finally after 10 years of self doubt, lack of discipline, and family members looking at you funny, its finished. For those who are starting out or have already started hang in there and finish, its a great feeling of accomplishment. Let me just say, if I can do it, anyone can, lol. I even took a week off from work for the final push and let me tall you, the last class was a doozy (Strategic Management, easily the best class I have ever taken anywhere). Good luck to all of you that are starting out, currently enrolled or nearing completion, you won't regret it. Just finish and finish strong. Now onto my MBA.
MBA in Global Management, International business (if such curriculum even exists) or something along those lines. The MBA quest is at least 2 years away at this point. I am going to be shooting for some certifications in Project Management and some more IT certs before MBA is even considered. Thanks again and good luck to all of you.
Congrats! I graduated with my bachelor's this past June. I started back in 1992 and finally threw my cap in the air in 2005. It is such an amazing feeling and I won't forget it. Congrats! I am a few classes away from completing my master's degree. The master's degree was easier for me than the bachelor's degree. Can't explain. Maybe it is because I don't have all of those classes hanging over my head like I did in the bachelor's degree. Best advice: Stay focused and start and finish the MBA while you are in the "study mode". Christie
