Interesting. When it refers to international students "who now appear to be taking at least some of their business elsewhere" does it where elsewhere is? North America? Staying home? Somewhere else?

Australia will lose educational business to China. The Chinese universities are expanding and are taking foreign students, mainly from Asia so it seems. Australia does draw from China so I guess that will affect the student numbers.

India is also a big foreign market for Australian Universities so they may now be attending university at home or perhaps China. Australia still seems to draw from Europe. I guess it is cheap for some of the market in Europe (not all) and the weather is warm.

I am uncertain about the depth of the market from the U.S. It is cheap by comparison with most of top tier universities. The language and culture is basically the same, with some notable differences. Driving on the other side of the road may be a problem, but otherwise an education and a holiday in a safe environment perhaps.
