Has anyone used the American government cliff notes quick review by Paul Soiber as their only source for the American Government clep exam?

    Hi DNICE,

I used the Cliff Notes Quick review book, instantcert, and the following web site, to study for American Government:

    Pink Monkey: American Government

I personally found this to be one of the more challenging exams I have taken. Definitely take it seriously!

At Excelsior, this exam requires the highest score of any other exam in order to be granted an 'A' (69). Most other exams earn an 'A' grade for any score higher than the mid 50s to low 60s.

    Hi DNICE,

After actually taking the exam, I would say that pinkmonkey's notes are thorough and very useful in studying for this exam. I created my final memorization and study notes from the info on that site. I also read the Cliff Notes book twice and worked my way through the Instantcert questions several times.

I felt confident and knowledgeable taking the exam after studying the above three sources.

Unfortunately, I scored a 68 which is extremely frustrating to me because 69 was the cut-off for an A.

I took this exam on November 8th, 2005. Do you by any chance know (or could you find out) when Excelsior officially changed it to pass/fail? (The 2006 Assessment Catalog still lists it as graded rather than pass/fail)

This information would be extremely helpful to me because I have a 4.0 if I replace that one exam (even though I got a 69 which is an 'A' for most other subjects...grrrr!). However, if the exam was already changed to pass/fail when I took it, then it will save me from having to take a replacement exam.

I would greatly appreciate it if you, or anyone else who is enrolled, could find out the pass/fail switch-over date for this exam.

    Thanks in advance,
    Beholdweb

Oops! Of course I meant to say:

    That's too bad!

Thanks for finding out for sure.

DNICE please check your Private Messages. I sent you one a couple of days ago and I don't think you have read it yet.
