    U21GLOBAL ESTABLISHED AS PREMIER E-UNIVERSITY
Thomson Learning and Universitas21 have partnered to create a
new online university called U21global. Each of the firms will
contribute $25 million toward the venture. The university is
to be based in Asia and will provide degrees in business and
technology. The online university is scheduled to open in January
2003, and the courses will receive accreditation from the 15
universities participating in U21global. "U21global is the
embodiment of our learning strategy, which is to deliver tailored,
high-quality solutions...anywhere in the world," said Bob Cullen,
CEO of Thomson Learning's International Group. The current
challenge for the venture is providing high quality education to
students who often lack access to traditional campuses, said
Professor Graeme Davies, vice-chancellor of the University of
    Glasgow and chairman of Universitas21.
