So I've fallen off the face of DegreeInfo for some time but am back with a vengeance. Last I was around I was pursuing my degree plan for a BSBA at TESC. I'm basically done and left with a few loose ends that I'm tying up now.

I'm trying to understand if anyone knows how TESC calculates a GPA for courses transferred in? Specifically, when I spoke with TESC academic advisement they informed me that a GPA can be calculated using the course work from other learning institutions but not from tests (CLEP, DANTES, TECEP, etc.) So I was wondering, I have been finishing up some indepedant courses at Penn Foster/Education Direct, will these grades be used to calculate my GPA at TESC, or will they transfer in as "credit granting" like a CLEP or DANTES.

If anyone knows or has any advice that would be great. If they do transfer in as GPA calculated grades, then I'll make sure I get an A :)

Those courses will transfer with a Letter Grade as earned at the originating institution provided that school is within the US, that is not a foreign school.

Great. Thanks so much for the information. Where did you find this out? Did you graduate from TESC?

Also, I have taken a challenge course from Athabasca University in Canada. Will this transfer over as a letter grade or a pass/fail?

Thanks so much for your help.

About three years ago I took up a BSBA at TESC. I transferred in some 90 credits from Canadian college work, submitted my CPA license for 33 more, and tested out to meet the remaining 20 or so degree requirements. So when I graduated in early 2005, my transcript did not even contain a GPA. Every course on it was simply listed as "CR" (credit).

This didn't hurt me when applying for graduate school, though. UConn Shool of Business accepted me into their Master of Science in Accounting program on the strength of this degree (and ten years of solid work experience).

By the way, the UConn MSA program is one of the best online master's degree programs in the country, in my opinion. I'm surprised I never hear anything about it here on the boards. Granted, you need a lot of undergrad accounting credits to get in, but if you have them, it's a first rate distance learning opportunity.
