As I posted before today, I feel the need to start talking.

I have seen several threads about the FEMA course but not sure if anyone has a breakdown of classes and credits. I would think that for most degrees they would be handy for electives but wanted to here some folks resutls

Just go to the FEMA website, and it'll tell you which courses are offered by FEMA, as well as give you a breakdown by colleges that offer courses and degrees.

    FEMA Independent Study Program
Due to the thousands of people completing independent study courses each week, it will take at least 12 weeks to process exam results and get completion certificates mailed. We appreciate your patience and will email a notice of completion if you include your email address on all exam submissions. Completion notices will be issued within twenty-four hours for exams submitted Monday through Friday. Notices for all weekend submissions will be emailed by the following Monday afternoon. Please retain the email notice as proof of course completion until you receive your Independent Study Program Certificate of Achievement via the U.S. postal system. If you do not have an email address and need course completion verification, please call (301)447-1200.

Thank you I found the info listed via the application at Frederick Community College.

The FEMA training is interesting on its own. Well worth the time for anyone who simply enjoys learning.

I read that someone on this board did a transfer to TESC and then to Excelsior. As Excelsior has no program for this like TEST and Frederick Community College I wonder how they broke them out? Lower division ellectives?

Yes, I did get 41 hours for my FEMA courses at Thomas Edison State College. I did it with a credit bank account at TESC for $250 (military discount) total. I also use my credit bank account to document my military training. I transferred all my FEMA courses on my credit bank account to my Excelsior transcript (no extra special charge).

The private company who handles FEMAs webpages has some sort of deal going with Fredrick and Clackamas and will not list the information about anyone else who gives credit for FEMA courses. Since it is a government site, I am not sure it is legal to have such a monopoly in place.

    Michael,

Thank you I read your post, great info.

What, if I may ask, did Excelsior do with them? Did they take them as electives/professional or did they actually break them in science, humanities etc?
