Thanks. When one online school gets good exposure, it makes all of them look good. Thats why its great that good schools like NCU, Walden, Capella, Touro and others continue to enhance the reputation of DL and DL from virtual institutions overall. Take care,

While there's truth to that, in the case of Capella doing well, I think the impact is greater on the reputation of for-profit higher education than DL.

Isn't it interesting how even with good news people just can't leave that "for-profit" debate alone?

But we are not talking about for-profits vs. not-for-profits higher education here. This is about DL and the reputation of DL schools at the doctoral level so lets keep it specific, shall we? Capella, Walden, NCU, Union, etc, are major players in the new wave of DL, and any good news from one of these schools is good news for the reputation of virtual institutions at the doctoral level in general.

and where did I mention NFP? No where so yes - shall we keep it specific? My point is that had CU not been a FP I suspect the poster would not have felt compelled to make the comment.

Actually I agreed with you. I was simply replying to the comments of the other poster before you.

Sorry if it looked like I was changing the subject, but I really wasn't. The thread is about Capella getting a grant, and my response to that is that I think that's better news for

In other words, for most people who watch higher ed, I think Capella is associated with the FP/NFP side of things than the DL/B&M side of things.

Careful readers will note that I wasn't disparaging for-profit education here!

I'm glad, especially considering that I just dropped off in mid-sentence there! I need to stop posting after that third Martini! :D
