Hi guys, Can you give me any rough ideas about which MBA program is the best buy among these few ? These are : 1. ACCIS Accreditation : Distance Education & Training Council(DETC) Tuition :$10,175 ($275/cr) 2. Brenau University Accreditation : Regional- Southern association of coll & schools Tuition :$12,060($402/cr) 3. California Coast Univ ACC : DETC Tuition: $4,889 4. Columbia Southern Univ Acc: DETC Tuition: $6300 ($175/Cr) 5. Grantham Univ ACC - DETC Tuition: $10,467 6. Touro University ACC- regional- middlestates commission on higher education tuition: $12,000
Pursue a degree program that meets your personal and professional needs. DETC degree(s) are widely accepted and are geared towards working adults who need maximum flexibility and for individuals who have already established their careers and families. Research the DETC website (http://www.detc.org) and the six regional accreditor websites for more information. You can also read more about accreditation at the CHEA website (http://www.chea.org). Good luck in your decision. If you'd like any further information pretaining to Columbia Southern University you can send me a personal e-mail ([email protected]).
Unless I am mistaken, the DETC MBAs are more expensive than you previously listed: ColSouth.edu = 36 * 240 = $8640 CalCoast.edu = 39 * 170 = $6630 But then again, you may have transfer credit...
Personally, of those you listed, I prefer Touro. Having just decided to apply to Baker College for my MBA - Touro was among the 3 or 4 that made it to my final shortlist. Things I like about Touro: No need to buy textbooks, they are all online All lectures, presentations and resource materials are provided on CD Each course is worth 4 credits one class per semester is considered half time - so eligible for federal loans Barsana - how did you narrow your list down to those few?
Texascot, Regarding Touro, do you know what method of assessment they use? Regarding Baker: Same question, also if you can guide on the per credit cost. Thanks in advance.
Novemberdude - this is from the schools respective websites: Touro: Each course at TUI (3 months duration) consist of 6 Modules including the following: - 6 Cases - 6 Session Long Projects - 6 Enhanced Cases or Threaded Discussions Lectures, presentations, and resource materials are found on the course's CD. Moreover, included in your tuition, full access to virtual libraries (ProQuest and Netlibrary). Touro is $300 per credit hour. Baker: All online courses are broken down into equal parts called seminars. Typically, online courses are six weeks in length. On the first day of each seminar (week), the online instructor sends any introductory information on the week's topic, restates the assignments from the course outline or module and sends an introductory lecture to begin the study process for the week. To stimulate discussions, the instructor would also typically include discussion questions related to the topic at the end of his/her lecture. As the week progresses, you work on your readings and assignments, and you participate in classroom discussion just as you would in a traditional classroom setting. However, you use the computer to participate in the class discussions, to carry on private discussions with classmates or your teacher, to ask questions and to receive any feedback. When your assignments are due (you usually have a specific deadline for your required work during the week), you send them to the instructor or to the classroom online. Instructors grade your papers, provide feedback and comments, and keep you informed of your status weekly. Baker classes are $285 per credit hour.
I would straongly urge you to look at RA options before going DETC they have a little more utility(just my opinion). Also have you checked out Amberton http://www.amberton.edu/DistMBA3.htm (6k for the degree and it's RA) University of North Alabama http://www.columbiasouthern.edu/UNA/ (9k,RA and ACBSP) Cal State DH http://mbaonline.csudh.edu/programs.asp#BRIDGE (9k,RA and ACBSP) Just some other alternatives(some are cheaper, some are not)
You may want to look into Bellevue University, www.bellevue.edu. I've just completed my second course in the program and I really like it so far. Each course is 12 weeks long, two exams (midterm and final), plus weekly discussions, and a term project.
