I have narrowed my choices down to either Amberton or SJCME for my MBA. I need a 100% online program due to my work situation, or I would have taken the sound advice given on this board and gone to school evenings locally. Any preference as to either of these two institutions? I really like the Leadership focus of SJCME and the Strategic Leadership option at Amberton. I know Amberton is cheaper but does SJCME have a better reputation and is it more well known? Thanks in advance for any feedback on the MBA programs at these two institutions.

I don't think either is particularly well-known in Oklahoma, if your screen name is any indication of your location and where you intend to spend a significant amount of time. I know Oklahoma State University offers a 100 percent online MBA, which would be in the same price range as the two schools you have mentioned. I don't know that OSU has a leadership focus to their MBA. If that is important to you, then I would give the edge to Amberton for price, and its proximity to Oklahoma, although that whole Oklahoma vs. Texas rivalry may come into play at some point once you get your degree.

Oklahoma State University's www.okstate.edu DL B-School offerings include the general MBA, the MS in Information Systems, the MS in Telecommunications Management, and the Graduate Certificate in Information Assurance.

There are some who feel that St. Joseph's College shortchanges the more quantitative disciplines like Accounting and Statistics. Personally, I think that SJCME has a perfectly fine MBA in Leadership offered by a fine Catholic school, and Mr. DesElms will agree with me. And SJCME does offer good quantitative coursework in Finance and Economics.

Amberton requires you to either already have Accounting, Finance, and Statistics coming in or take them as bridge courses and offers Finance and Economics as possible electives in the MBA Leadership.

For those interested in an MBA in Leadership, there is also Fort Hays State University. www.fhsu.edu

    AMBERTON! Hands down!

This decision isn't really as tough as it might first appear:

1.The cheerleaders at AMBERTON are much better looking.
    2. The football team is always a Top 25 caliber squad.
    3. AMBERTON sounds way cooler than SJ College
    4. You get a really cool Gold Class ring when you graduate from Amberton!
    5. Everbody knows that Non Denominational Christian girls are way hotter than Catholic girls. (granted Billy Joel did have a great song about Catholic girls)

Those are just the important factors, if I got into the other things (curriculum, B & M, ) it would get silly! AMBERTON in a landslide.

On a serious note....Amberton is really more of a traditional MBA and is well known in the Texas area.

SJCME is much more progressive (IMHO) in their MBA as the focus is upon "soft skills" of management. A lot of people "think" they have heard of St. Joes because of the St. Josephs College NY or IA or even St. Josephs University. It's a famous name, but when you add the "of Maine" to the title, most I've spoken with just assume that it is a smaller version or sister school to the St. Joes of NY, IA or University. That's fine with me, let them think that. As for known popularity, the SJCME will probably be more known on the East Coast just like Amberton is in the South.

Personally, SJCME gets my vote, but Amberton is a close second choice.
