    Hello all,

I know the difference between RA and unaccredited institutions. As a matter of fact, as a foreign citizen, I cannot afford about 30 000 or even 40 000 USD for an accredited online PhD in business administration. It is too expensive for me.

My degree will help me in my country of originin where the US R/A is not useful even if I know this mean best standards for you in your country.

I am just looking for an affordable US phd for personal purpose only.

Except KWU, do you know affordable and reliable unaccredited PhD program?

    Thanks!!

    Sabine,

If you are serious and are truly seeking a legal State approved Phd program that you will work very hard for and will at this time, only be a State of California approved degree program, but a reputable one with a school that has been around 30 years, then the only one I could suggest as a option that may meet your needs based on what you described is California Pacific University.

    www.cpu.edu

You can contact and speak to Dr. Dalton, who will give you one on one attention etc. Keep this in mind, you will work hard...very hard, for this program and not having a National or RA accreditation could limit your usage, but as I stated, it is state approved.

Another two I could think of are Century University...

    www.century.edu

and Preston University, which seems to go after foreign students and is is the Wyoming, but not well respected state for valid controls etc. but legal at this time.

    www.preston.edu

Lastly, and one I have experience in, but seems to have controversy and more than other schools is Breyer State University.

    www.breyerstate.com

THe program is not a gimme and what I did work on in the doctoral program was as much if not more than I am currently working on with NCU. They are state approved in Alabama and have alot of programs.

I do not need to say it as others here already have. So make you own judgement as it is your money and time. I would condier your expense as a investment like anything else. What you invest should give you a positive return.

CPU of the ones I listed, would be my top choice due to their long time in operations.

    Good luck

    Sabine,

If you're serious about getting a business doctorate, but are struggling with the cost, rather than sliding into UA options, perhaps you could consider the less expensive (but fully accredited) programmes at several South African universities, such as University of South Africa (UNISA) and their Doctor of Business Leadership (DBL) degree. There are other SOuth African options as well. Worth looking into.... of you're serious.

    Peace,

    Matt

Matt, I believe that Sabine is seeking a US degree, but, since we are throwing in South African programs like UNISA etc., we might as well throw in the Australian ones as well. Also, they are inexpensive.

    http://www.une.edu.au/online/

University of New England in Australia is a option.

    http://www.newcastle.edu.au/

University of New Castle - Australia

    http://www.csu.edu.au/

    Charles Sturt Univ. Australia

and there are others as well like

    UNISA Australia

    Just a start

American Sentinel University now facilitates the University of New Castle DBA program for US students. Check it out at http://www.americansentinel.edu/index.php

Sabine, if you want an unaccredited doctorate degree, save yourself the effort and print one out for yourself on your home computer. If it has to be American, I'll print you out one. Either way, you'll save yourself money and the "degree" will have just as much accademic significance and external validation (none) as the unaccredited programs you are likely to find.

    Best wishes.

Does anyone have any updated info (and opinions) about either Century or Preston? Thanks!

As long as you only need a doctorate for personal use I would suggest that the ones offered by the ULC are superior to most of the unaccredited ones noted above. You can find several doctorates here at very reasonable prices

Thanks for the laugh and mocking suggestion, but I'm only exploring options that I really have no background in.

Since Preston University is unaccredited can a doctorate degree from this institution be used as a credential in situations where a doctorate degree is not required?

The University of South Africa (UNISA) might be a better choice for students outside the USA who want to earn a doctorate degree.

Most of the unaccredited doctorates are nothing but vanity degrees as you cannot use them anywhere where an accredited doctorate is required.

If you are looking for a vanity degree, why not get one from ebay and pay less than 100 dollars for it?

Oooops - missed the business admin requirement in the first post

In that case I think your best option is a DETC DBA from either Columbia Southern University (cost approx USD18,000)
    http://www.columbiasouthern.edu/programs/dba/index.asp
    or
a DETC DBA from University of Management and Technology (cost approx USD24,000)

The part that I don't understand is the idea of a PhD "for personal purpose only." To me this means, "I just want to put "PhD" on my business card."

No, that wouldn't be personal because it's a "business card."

Maybe it's this, "I just want to brag to my family." OK, then RobbCD has made the best suggestion, just go to a printer and get one made up. I like a nice gothic font in Latin. Although, if you're going to go that route then you might want to consider an old British uni. "Edinburgh" looks nice in a gothic font. Yeah, that's the ticket.

    Hi Sabine,

May I ask what uses are included in "personal purpose"? How would you use an unaccredited Ph.D.?

    Thanks,

    Dave
