If so, I'm curious to hear about your experiences thus far.

Fort Hays student here. Anything in particular you would like to know?

This is my first semester, and I'm taking 7 hours (intro to grad studies, ways of knowing, and origins and implications).

So far the 1 credit hour (intro) course has been the hardest- my advice, steer clear from the teacher who uses the Darwin book if you can. The Ways of knowing class has interesting assignments so far, and there are DVDs to watch, and Origins is just a lot of reading. I have papers due in all classes, but the Ways class is the only one that has Three proctored exams.

I've had a good experience so far, but this program isn't for the faint of heart. It's a lot of work, but I'm learning a great deal and I'm looking forward to working on my concentration (English) beginning this summer.

Let me know if you need anything else! :)

I'm not a student at FHSU, nor have I been one in the past, but you might do a username search for "buckwheat"; he was in the MLS History program at FHSU, though I think he might have transfered to AMU. You also might try PMing buckwheat, but if he's no longer here, I have seen him materialize over at www.degreeboard.com as buckwheat wildebeest.

I've seen Buckwheat here recently- there is another thread a page or two down that discusses this (and his postings are linked if you want to check them out). From what I gather, I don't think his problem was with the program as much as it was with a professor.

Ah, yes, the thread wherein I had linked the threads on buckwheat's history in the MLS History program at Fort Hays State University is living here: http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23578 . Buckwheat's most recent post here on this forum was as of 02-06-2006 on that thread.

Thanks guys, interesting read. I called Ft. Hayes in the past and talked to whoever answered the phone. Was supposed to get a call back, never did. I was looking into their MLS in Criminal Justice to be eligable to teach part time at the college level or as an adjunct, I think I would be better served with an MS though.

If you have any questions about the program, email Art Morin at [email protected]. He's the head of the MLS program, and also one of my professors (not the Darwin one ;) ). He's really good about responding to questions in a timely manner.
