Hi Everyone. I'm looking for a DL program in School Psychology that allows me to bypass getting the masters first (already have a masters in school counseling). Any ideas?
School Psych programs are usually either masters or specialist levels for state certification. Professional accreditation standards drive the majority (of not all) of the curriculum requirements. I searched for a DL school psych program three years ago and came up empty handed. Now that I'm nearly finished with the program I understand why there are few if any opportunities for DL learning in this area: The requirements for learning and interpreting the psychoeducational assessment instruments might be a little too challenging via DL for institutions to offer them... Best of luck in your search... If you do find something let the board know so that it's in the search engine (when it's working)...
Ooops... right you are... Walden University offers a Ph.D. in Psychology (with a School Psychology Licensure specialization) http://www.waldenu.edu/c/Schools/Schools_750.htm As a note of caution I would recommend that you investigate whether this program would be acceptable for licensure in your state.
National Louis University www.nl.edu offers EdS and CAS degrees in Educational Psychology with School Psychology concentration. I know that National Louis University offers some of their graduate education degrees online, but I'm having difficulty discerning whether this is one of them.
University of Missouri www.mudirect.missouri.edu offers the MEd and EdS degrees in Mental Health Practices in Schools, if that is close enough.
NLU offers the ed/school psych degrees as on-campus programs only... http://www.nl.edu/academics/prog_format.cfm And... the M.A. and Ed.S. programs from U of Mo seem to be great programs but I sincerely doubt that they could lead to certification as a school psych (the curriculum does not match the NASP requirements for certification).
