Ph.D/Ed.D via Summer Studies/DL Format

Hi All:

Currently in the midst of a two day massive blizzard and with all the extra "shut-in" time on my hands I've been thinking...not always a good thing!

I wanted to pose a question to the board on doctoral studies via summer school and DL combo. The main university in my area, Memorial University of Newfoundland, has a Ph.D program BUT you have to take a year off work to complete the 2 required courses - this ain't an option for moi at this stage in the game.

What would be perfect would be a program that would allow me to attend school in the summer (I am a school administrator with seven weeks off each summer) and the rest of the courses/dissertation writing via DL format. I LOVE DL learning and being very self-motivated is my preferred way to study.

So...if anyone can help me out with suggestions on universities that offer this format (International, US or Canadian) please let me know. Thanks!

PS - Just received word that an article I wrote has been accepted for a refereed journal - the rest of my publications have been in non-refereed publications. Someone also posted a new DE EdD offered by Penn State, but I believe that program was well over 6 figures, and I don't have any info on it.

Now why would a non-profit university charge over 6 figures for a degree? Oh, maybe to make a profit.
