I would just like to say thanks to all those that helped me find Peru State College. I was told to post on here after I started to say if I liked it. I am in my 4th week and so far it's going great! It is a little different from AIU where I attended before but the difference is better and cheaper!!!

I would recommend this school to anyone!!

Thanks again Degree info members for you valuable info!

What classes are you taking this semester?

    Hi Melissa,
I second what you said about Peru, I am in my second semester there and am highly enjoying it. I see that you are going for CJ and I was wondering what classes you are taking this semester? I am taking my second CJ class and I like it a lot more than I thought. It is making me think of going for a double major in CJ and Pscyh which is what I am going for now. Glad to hear from a fellow classmate ! Good luck !

Thanks for posting your experiences with Peru State. I am seriously considering them to pursue my Bachelors Degree. Can you possibly give me some information on how your testing is done? Do you have a proctor or is the test online?

    Thanks

Re: What classes are you taking this semester?

I am currently taking Community Corrections and Policing in America. Next I am taking criminology and criminal law I think. I hope I can soon take the Intro to CJ...lol. I am actually getting my degree for criminal justice counseling so I will be taking some psych classes as well.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking. Do you mean the tests we take in the classes?

You must be in my class !

    Hey Melissa,
You must be in my Policing in America class right now then ! Wow small world .... Intro to CJ wasn't bad at all, structured the same as policing without the essay exams, just multiple choice and a short research paper, like 5 pgs. What do you think of the corrections class, I might take that next? The psych classes are writing intensive but they are good. Good luck this semester !

I think I am in your Policing class. I really don't like the class actually. It's not the worst class but just not interesting to me. Although I really like the corrections class. You just write one 2 page research report and you get until week 6 to do it. And the tests are mult choice, t/f unlike the policing class. Thanks and good luck to you this semester as well.

Yes, I am talking about how you take your exams for your classes? Do they require a proctor or are they online?

    Tests

Test and exams are all online. Some are timed some are not, it depends on the Prof. There have been no proctors so far but this is only my second semester, I don't know what the future may bring!

I would have to say the same as Mighty..I am only on my first two classes, but they are both a little different but still not too bad. I believe we even have finals too.

Thanks Melissa and Mighty! I think I'll go ahead and apply to Peru. I really like what I've heard about the school so far.

    Hi, Mighty_Tiki and melissa,

I'm glad you are enjoying your courses at Peru. I was really thinking about enrolling at Peru to complete a B.S. PSCY. degree, but got a little worried, after I read that the online courses would all be writing-intensive. Is this accurate? I would like to find out if their psychology course professors test with online quizzes and exams or whether they only want written assignments turned in by email, for example.

I understand that the professors who chair Peru's psychology department are doing research in the criminal justice area. My goal is an M.A. in Counselling (some fine day). I'm just not sure about the degree of "fit" for me, but would love to hear more about your experiences with the nitty-gritty of taking online classes with Peru.

    Go get'em!
