i have been introduced to e-learning which i didnt know at first but now i have a problem with dealing with one of the questions in my e-learning sessions. i do not understand what an action research is all about? how will i know exactly that a question is action researchable?
In language teaching research, "action research" is a common term with a specific meaning, but I don't know if it would apply to the question you are asked to answer. Maybe if we had the question itself, it might be easier. Do your course materials and texts not explain the term?
thank you very much Bill for the reply. i meant that questions like 'How to use Ice-breakers to ease tension in a session', can it be Action Researchable? the course materials do explain but i fail to grab the idea of Action Research.
There's an article summarizing Action Research in language teaching here: http://www.eslteachersboard.com/cgi-bin/articles/index.pl?noframes;read=950 About halfway down the page there's a summary of the differences between Action Research and formal research. However, "Action Research" seems like a term that may have a general meaning, but widely different protocols of practice in different disciplines. The best I can suggest is googling "action research" and the name of the discipline you're studying and see if you can come up with some examples. Not much help, I know.
