Hey all, I was just admitted to Moutanin State University's M.S. program in interdisciplinary studies. I have to start out with a methodologies course called GIDS 501. Does anyone have any experience with this class or this program at MSU? If so, how did you like this class and this program? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!
Hi Robert, I'm interested in this program too. What will be your concentration? I am leaning toward Investments Finance or International Business... Rhonda
philosophicalme, Hi, thanks for the reply. My interests lie within environmental studies or env. science. My wife is taking undergraduate indpendent studies courses at MSU also. She loves this school. We have both found the staff at this institution very friendly and helpful. I have been told by the person who runs the graduate interdisciplinary program one can develop a concentration in just about any discipline as long it does not require professional licensure in fields such as social work, counseling, engineering, etc. I think they will be more than willing develop a concentration in your field of interest.
Ron, Yes federal student is offered for this program in the form of student loans. Current rates for tuition run at $290 per credit!
Rob, Do you have any idea what you are going to use in the Content Phase, such as Internships, MSU courses, other college's courses, directed study, projects, etc? Rhonda
Rhonda, I plan to complete phase II by self designed courses in conjunction with faculty from MSU and transferring in courses I previously completed at Touro University International. In phase III, I plan to go through an internship and complete a special project based upon research conducted throughout this internship. This degree is very flexible, which is of a benefit if a student is very self directed.
Robert, That sounds like a good plan. I plan to design several courses myself with MSU faculty, complete an internship and complete the research portion. Please let me know how your course design process goes and what it entails, as I will be interested in this program in the Fall. Rhonda
