Thanks for the help on earlier questions. I now have two more...

Of Excelsior, Charter Oak, and Thomas Edison, which gives more credit for AP exams? (I have a 4 in US History and a 4 in Psychology).

Second, what colleges offer credit for courses in basic first aid and CPR?

I've not found any that will offer credit for the First Aid and CPR courses that you take from Red Cross, Heart Association, or NSC unless you took them as a part of a credit course at an RA institution.

The reason is level of training -- while the community level (about 8 hours) courses have a standard curriculum requirement -- college level courses exceed those requirements by quite a bit. Further, most college level courses are no longer holding to the basic level course standards but are instead exceeding the first responder/professional rescuer level of training.

You might be able to convince a B&M to allow you to test for credit based on your basic credentials. You'd still have to meet the higher standard of the post-secondary course.

I'm not an active scuba instructor anymore, but I believe PADI's Emergency First Response instructor course is approved by ACE for 1 credit. Details at http://www.emergencyfirstresponse.com/default.asp and http://www.padi.com.

You don't need to be a scuba instructor to become a EFR instructor, but you do need to have already completed PADI's EFR course or a Red Cross First Aid and CPR course.

You can take these courses at almost any PADI dive store. Seems like a lot of work though for just 1 credit.

I've also seen Red Cross first responder courses at various colleges. I took one a long time ago at FIT that was over several weekends.
