Most of you know that I applied to Charles Sturt University Doctoral Program in Public Policy. I rushed my information there by FedEx, and emailed almost every week since then for an update. To date I have heard nothing, even though school begins in February. I am so stressed! In hindsight I wish I had applied to other schools. I thought Charles Sturt would be great at getting back with students, but apparently I was wrong. When I called, they were not able to locate my application. I contacted the course coordinator, he knew nothing about which I spoke. I am just going to forget the whole thing and either go local or find another foreign school that knows how important it is to stay in contact with its students.

Question: Does UNISA have a reputation for getting back to students in a timely manner? I feel like 86ing the whole thing and going with Capella. I just hate being in school for another century. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

You are not the only one. I have gone through five supervisors and now about to embark on the sixth one, over a span of five years. The local agent had promised that our program will run over a course of seven years but now it seems to have cut short to five with additional payments demanded verbally. The DBA program has got us no where and left us with a throbbing headache and poorer for the experience.

    Sorry

I am sorry you too have had to endure such traumatic experience. Was this also at CSU? I emailed the program director again for the umptheenth time. He emailed back to say my file turned up on his associate's desk. He said he was going to approve it but that the buck, essentially, does not stop with him but rather with the admission's committee. I have no idea how long this would take. School was slated to begin in February - go figure!

I wish you smooth sailing from here on in hon.

    UNISA

    Hello LadyExecutive,

From the lurking that I have done here I have picked up stuff about UNISA. I think communication with them is kind of luck of the draw, I think I recall seeing that most people who have inquired about them have had the most luck with emailing the head of the department you are interested. I contacted IACI about they're LLB program and Dr Esselen was very prompt on the response so to repeat what PhD2B said in the other thread about UNISA that may be the place to start. I wish JackTracey was still around I think he might have known more about this topic, if anyone knows how to contact him he miay be of help. Good Luck !!

Walden University has a PhD in public policy. Walden and Capella both are great about returning calls and processing paperwork. Here is the link to the public policy program:

Like I said in the past, if you want to be treated like a customer, your best bet is to go with a US for-profit school. At a for-profit school, students don't have to initiate contacts with their instructors. Rather, instructors have to ensure that they stay in contact with their students. Remember that I suggested in the past that Charles Stuart University is not going to be easier or better than Nova in terms of student/instructor interaction.
UNISA might be worse. Dr. Esselen might help to make things faster in the beginning but I don’t know what will happen down the road. To study at UNISA, I believe that you need to have a great deal of patience. Roy Savia and Jack Tracy are currently enrolled at UNISA and I am sure that they are informed about UNISA than most posters.
