I don't know film stuff but on a certain level, writing is writing. You won't find a degree program in "screenplays." You can find Masters programs in writing at a bunch of places like National, Goucher and Vermont. Probably others too.

It's a bit like the studio art programs out there were the degree is in art studio but there are specialties offered at different schools.

Screenwriting would be a specialty within an MFA in Creative Writing like the one at American Film Institute http://www.afi.com/

Finding a program by DL is a challenge since there are only a handful of DL MFA Creative Writing programs to begin with.

As for "writing is writing" -- you've never tried to write in screen play format then -- it's very different from everything else. I find the constant intrusion of things like:
to be a real distraction in my writing. That's just me though, some people prefer it to having to write convincing dialog.

Found an online school for Motion Picture and Television production

Academy of Art University offers an AA and BFA in directing, screenwriting, production, cinematograpy, etc. I don't think they're RA but have accreditation and are able to process federal financial aid.

They also offer a wholly online MFA in Motion Picture and Television production. The MFA rates seem high, though, at 650 per credit for 63 credits.

Still, this is good for anyone looking for an online program like this. I looked at Miami International University and University of Miami (local to me) and their tuition was about the same.
