What's the question Are you asking if it is a fake? No, it is ACICS accredited. This school used to be a top class engineering school up to around a decade ago. I had a work associate who taught there. I'm suspicious of the current school: it offers lots of degrees including doctorates but does not have an .edu suffix on its web address. The fact the site keeps asking me to download a chinese character program is also suspicious. The WASC site does not list this school.
The only West Coast University listed in the US Dept of Education's listing of accredited post-secondary schools is the one AuditGuy cites. So, the West Coast U. at www.wcuedu.org has a blatant falsehood on its webpages -- this sounds major alarm bells to me. The DOE site: http://www.ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.asp Cheers, Adrienne
I checked out the website listed. It really is slick. It makes it look legitimate. I live in California and remember WCU closing. However, this website makes it look like WCU never closed. They even have recent catalogs of 2003-2004 and 2005 listed on their site! Why would anyone do such a thing? I mean, this "university", even claims WASC and ABET accreditation! They even state they are able to to offer federal student aid and accept veterans benefits! I dont know what they are trying to pull, but it does get the alarm bells ringing my head! Check out the financial aid website at: http://www.wcuedu.org/financial.htm
Wow. Such an intersting site. ... If I didn't know better, I'd consider signing up if I needed their services. It is interesting, the org that AuditGuy cites on ed.gov has the same physical address as wcuedu.org site. However, I can't seem to get beyond the site homepage cited in ed.gov...interesting. I dropped a quick email to ABET to see if they had any perspective.
WCU offers the exact same specializations in their PhD in Applied Management and Decision Sciences program that Walden University offers. I wonder how many other programs WCU has copied from other universities. This should be setting off some sort of alarm as this is not a typical university program. http://www.wcuedu.org/program.htm http://www.waldenu.edu/c/Schools_834.htm Ph.D. in Applied Management & Decision Sciences Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences - Engineering Management Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences - Finance Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences - Information Systems Management (ISM) Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences - Knowledge Management Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences - Leadership and Organizational Change Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences - Learning Management Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences - Operations Research
Being quite familair with MGIB benefits (a.k.a GI BILL) the link below is suspect since the rates they quote are not even the right ones. http://www.wcuedu.org/financial.htm Here is the correct rates for personel using the G.I Bill http://www.gibill.va.gov/education/rates/CH30/ch30rates100105

I also sent ABET and WASC emails to get their perspectives. Another thing, I feel sorry for the alumni from the real WCU that closed down in the 1990's! This site makes their degrees which were earned honestly look like a sham to some potential employers!
Yea, the "real" WCU was closed in 1996 and its building was sold to Dong-Guk Royal University of America (an Oriental Medicine school run by the Korean-Americans) by WCU' creditors. BTW, I really feel sorry for one "Dr. Robert M.L. Baker Jr., who was the president of WCU (the real one!) between 1970-1997 (an expert on the UFOs as well). apparently, some "smart" guys are using his' name to fool people to sign up for this WCU deal and the good doctor doesn't even know about it!
I received an answer from ABET saying that they are not accredited, and to check their website for currently accredited schools.
Of course it is not accredited-because it died 10 years ago. Someone is using its dead body to fool people. This is an excellent example to show how the DL learning mode can be easily misused by bad people- "WCU" (the fake one) is charging $10,000 per head for the "DBA" program-which is of course toally on line (my god!)
