Does anyone know of any 2 or 4 year degrees offered online for these programs?

Fine Art (Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Drawing, Ceramics)
    Interior Design/ Decorating
    Agriculture Business Management

I'm as curious as they come and these programs catch my eye :)

    Hi Rhonda,

I see that you switched majors from Psychology to Liberal Arts. What influenced your decision in making this move? Were you concerned with the number of Psych related exams/courses that are required for the Psych major, or did your interests change?

    Just curious!

    Take care,
    Tom

    Hi Tom!

I wanted to finish the Bachelor's degree for personal reasons ASAP and pursue something I've always been interested in: Art, Photography, or Interior Design. I'd love to have a career that I could do from home for side income, too. To finish the major in Psych would only require two additional courses/ exams that deviate from my current plan, so it isn't a matter of that. I'm afraid that if I pursue my BS in Psych and then further my education in Business, it may appear like I don't know what I want to do with myself (which is true, but nobody else needs to know that!) So my plan is to just 'get that degree' and then pursue something I really like more leisurely :). I hope your studies are going well!!

For all kinds of fine arts programs, see the Academy of Art University

    http://online.academyart.edu/degrees.html

It's kind of expensive and it isn't RA. (They do have a WASC site visit scheduled.)

I don't know how they do studio instruction by DL. Frankly I'm a little skeptical of doing fine arts by DL (except maybe computer art). But here it is.

It's real and it isn't a mill. In fact it is the largest art school in the US by enrollment (about 6,000 students). They have facilities all over San Francisco and their red AA logo is ubiquitous. (An apartment building where I used to live is now their 'Leonardo di Vinci building' and it houses artists.)

If you are contemplating interior design, be aware that some states license interior designers and professional accreditation by FIDER (Foundation or Interior Design Education and Research) might be an issue. FIDER accredits Academy of Art's on-campus program, but not the DL ones. (FIDER doesn't accredit any DL programs...the studio access issue.)

Thanks, Bill...Ouch, they are pricey. I've decided to enter Harford Community College's A.A. in Fine Arts degree program (www.Harford.edu ) . I figure it would be more benefical to take these kind of courses on campus...

    1-2 Punch

    Rhonda,

I'm sure you'll succeed with whatever you choose to do. I just wanted to throw into the cauldron that psych and biz actually can be strong allies. A background in psych can support (and be perceived as supporting) study and work in traditional areas like HR, marketing, and consumer behavior, as well as in newer disciplines like leadership and behavioral finance.

    Re: 1-2 Punch

    Rhonda,

I would have to concur with Doug regarding psych and biz making good bedfellows (paraphrasing here!). Also, IMHO a BA in Psych would look a lot better on a resume (or grad school application) than a BA in Liberal Arts. But in the end, do what you think is best!

Oh, and BTW, best of luck with the fine arts program!

    Doug/ Tom,

Thanks for the encouragement and comments about Psychology and Business complimenting each other. I think I will finish the B.S. in Psychology after all!

    Rhonda,

You're very welcome. I think either would help you to achieve your goals, however the Psychology degree will serve you well, especially if you end up in Business later down the road.

    :)

TV: It isn't often you see a barn covered with huge reproductions of portraits by John Singer Sargent, but here it is.
You: Welcome to the Artful Cow Shed!
TV: I see each section is decorated in a different style.
You. Yes indeed: Louis Quinze, Sezession, Biedermeier, Art Deco.
    TV: What's that over there?
You. That's where we put the bad cows.
    TV: How's it decorated?
You. We just call it the "Hello Dali" area.
