Just an interesting (to me question) there are some really crappy schools out there claiming accreditation from non-GAAP accrediting agencies, but what are some decent non accredited schools that make no claim to accreditation? I’ve heard of some like SCUPS http://www.scups.edu/ but are there others?

    Friendorfoe,

As you already know from the amount of time on this forum, ANY unaccredited school is not the best choice for the majority of people.

However, to add to your question, the only other Non accredited and definitely does not claim any false or unrecognized accreditor is:

    www.cpu.edu

    California Pacific Univeristy

I took the first class from them in a DBA program and let me tell you, it is no picnic. It is a true distance learning school in all sense of the word, however, will the utility meet ones current and future goals.

You can chat with Dave Wagner, who posts regularly on this site, about his experience with CPU should you be interested in something similar to this type of school.

    Good luck.

Gotcha....I'm not considering any unaccredited schools....I've got my degree path laid out come hell or heck. Anyhow...I'm just curious as I'm sure others are about the offerings of unaccredited schools.

My opinion of unaccredited schools: Just Say No.

I know there are people that will stick up for one or more unaccredited schools and talk about how great they are and that they learned a ton and are a better person for it.

However, who RECOGNIZES these degrees? That's the main question for me. If the answer is "almost nobody" or "one or two people who actually know something about accreditation", there's your answer.

Certain California unaccredited law schools offer Bar qualifying degrees. I'd still be very cautious and do a LOT of research but for some would-be lawyers, such a school might be a good choice.

And there are also some unaccredited, California state-approved schools that offer PsyD programs that will allow one to sit for the state licensure exams. However, limitations apply and, in either situation, check on whether your unaccredited CA degree will be accepted for purposes of licensure in your home state, should you choose not to remain in Cali forever.

Beware of slogans that have utterly failed in previous campaigns ... unless you wish to make yourself a laughingstock.

Right...well, I'm not looking at ever attending an unaccredited school, I've got my path....but I was curious as to if there were any GOOD unaccredited schools that were non-religious....kind of like Louisiana Baptist University (which being from Louisiana has always intrigued me).

I was of the original impression that all unaccredited schools were "non wonderful"....but I think I'm wrong. I'm just looking for examples.

Whatever. I wasn't trying to make this a political discussion.

BTW, I myself have attended an unaccredited school...a vocational/technical school which only had state licensure and approval to operate. While the diploma served me well at the beginning of my career, it would not transfer to other institutions and was not recognized by anybody outside of the tri-state area where I attended the school. I only mention this so others here won't think I was merely talking out of my a$$ and using a somewhat trite, three word response to a question, but thanks for your .02, Ted.
