    All,

I'm working on my MBA at Penn State online due to a hectic life and work schedule, and I have a slight correction to make as well as some general comments about the program from the perspective of a graduate student.

There was a mistaken thread back in September 2005 about the Penn State iMBA. A member of this forum indicated that the program, although AACSB accredited, is not related in any way to the Smeal program offered in residence at Penn State. This is not correct - please take a look at the following link:

    http://www.outreach.psu.edu/news/magazine/Vol_5.1/imba.html

    To quote the article:

"The i MBA draws on the expertise of graduate business faculty members located in four Penn State colleges: Penn State Erie, Penn State Great Valley School of Graduate Professional Studies, Penn State Harrisburg and The Mary Jean and Frank P. Smeal College of Business Administration at University Park campus."

My accounting professor was Dr. Bob Crum, associate professor at Smeal, who is referenced in the article.

I have enjoyed my time online with Penn State so far...The cohort system works very well, and I especially like the way we are broken into small teams of five to accomplish team assignments. The courses complement each other so aspects of one course can be used in another. The professors, although not always timely with grading, are very approachable and responsive. I look forward to our first residency, where we will literally "pick apart" a company from the business perspective.

The drawback to the program is its expense ($23k per year), but with the outstanding student population and training we are receiving, I hope to more than earn it back. Thankfully, the costs include everything except for transportation to the residency sessions.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions. I appreciate this forum and have been following it for a long time.

    Warm Regards,

    Dan or "Mr. Opinion"

    Thanks for your feedback.

I have been seriously considering to apply for the iMBA ( i.e. if I can get the finances arranged). However unlike ASU ( W.P. Carey school ) or Indiana University ( Kelly Direct ), the iMBA is not a part of the Smeal school ( although the faculty might be same). That, according to me is sure a drawback.
