    Michael,

Thanks for posting the link to this article (I did not have to register to view the full-text). These new "non-discrimination" provisions will be welcome news to those looking to transfer NA credits to an RA school. I would be interested in learning exactly how the government plans to enforce this new rule however.

    Thread hijack! Sorry!

Tom, how is your class going at National? I always wonder about it from time to time because I'm amazed that you find time for a 4-week course with a newborn and a job!

    Hi Rhonda!

I just completed my latest class at National (Information Literacy & Report Writing) with an A-. :) I'm gearing up for my next class starting next week (Intro to Probability & Statistics). Yikes!

I'm still chugging along, but yes it is difficult to find time to study with a newborn, full-time job, band, etc... Eventually, I'm going to have to give up the band, but I'm not ready to grow up quite yet. ;)

Anyway, how have you been? I hear congrats are in order, since you recently finished your AA with Excelsior. :)

    Have a great new year!

Expect multiple legal challenges to this. Someone should start a pool as to the date the first case will be filed.

I see some money to be made here by those who are conversant enough in such matters as to offer compliance guidance and consulting to the many, many institutions that will find themselves out of compliance suddenly.

Let's face it, the typical Joe Registrar hasn't had to worry about whether the Accreditation Commission for Accupuncture and Oriental Medicine is or is not recognized by DoE.

Those schools who don't have specialized transcript evaluators on staff will now find need for a new employee.

Now, I see an potential issue as well. Some schools will simply say "we don't discriminate against any accreditation body, we simply don't accept transfer credit from anyone."

This didn't come to pass afterall. AACRAO miss-reported this information and retracted it last week. But they also stated that the issue will come up again.

Indeed: "The provision dictates colleges and universities may not base their transfer credit decisions on the accreditation of the provider of credits if the accrediting body is recognized by the Secretary of Education."

I expect that first there would be lengthy legal challenges, and were they to fail then good schools would simply use "transfer consortia" and the like as a replacement criterion for regional accreditation. I do not see a scenario in which regionally accredited schools really start accepting transfer credit from ACCSCT accredited schools.

I believe that UoP will as will Excellcior (sp?)

And I think that Rollins in Florida will accept ITT credits.
